Another Endangered Pregnant Hammerhead Killed in Florida by Mark the Shark:

This past weekend in Florida. Mark Quartiano killed a critically endangered Great Hammerhead. This wasn't just any shark—she was pregnant with 35 pups, all of which died with her.

In a disturbing display of ignorance, Maxi is pictured here kissing the dead young. This event was glamorized by WFLA News Channel 8 and NBC 6 South Florida as a miraculous catch, ignoring the severe impact on an endangered species.

@NOAAFisheries needs to step up and take responsibility for the conservation of these sharks by mandating their federal protection. The continued overfishing of Great Hammerheads can and will lead to their extinction.

Please reconsider supporting fishermen like Mark Quartiano and reach out to @NOAAFisheries to advocate for the revocation of licenses that allow targeting of internationally recognized endangered species.
