Honestly, I agree with everyone claiming that FIFA helped Argentina today for marketing purposes, because Messi’s elimination would supposedly mean lower TV ratings.
Just like they supposedly helped Ronaldo qualify yesterday. And just like they supposedly helped Brazil—the most successful nation in World Cup history, led by Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr.—beat Norway, whose biggest assets are basically two well-known players and their signature celebration.
The same thing supposedly happened two days ago with England. They were “helped” as well when a Mexican player was sent off, leaving Mexico with ten men at Wembley in front of a stadium full of English fans.
And let’s not even mention Germany, who beat Paraguay 4–0 and reached the Round of 16 because, apparently, FIFA would never allow a four-time World Cup winner to be eliminated that early.
And Colombia supposedly lost on purpose just to give Argentina an easier opponent. After all, Infantino is Swiss, so he’ll gladly hand the game to Messi and Argentina too.
So yes, apparently FIFA only favors the big teams, and smaller nations never stand a chance.
Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?
As the records keep piling up, it's important to remember that he missed multiple majors because he refused to take the COVID shot. And that was back when he was still winning majors.
Novak Djokovic has won a record-breaking 106th match at Wimbledon.
He passes Roger Federer for the most all-time.
