Council Grove enters the 2025 season under first-year head coach Derron Reddick, who brings 12 years of coaching experience and spent the last five seasons as the team’s defensive coordinator. Reddick earned SIK Small Classes Assistant Coach of the Year honors last fall as the defensive coordinator for the Braves. After an 8-4 campaign in 2024 that ended with a Final Four appearance in 2A (the best finish in school history), the Spartans look to build on their success with a young but talented group. The team returns 10 starters: five on offense and five on defense. Key offensive returnees include junior quarterback Luke Stewart, who threw for 1,678 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, and tight end Mason Samuels, a receiving threat with 457 yards and six touchdowns. Senior Blaise French, a SIK all-state DB and versatile contributor on both offense and defense, leads the defensive unit alongside standout linebackers Reid Buttrey and Bradley Doornbos. With experience on the line and playmakers at skill positions, the Braves and Coach Reddick hope to continue their playoff run and make a deep postseason push in 2025. #sportsinkansas
