@tchesshyre I’ve just finished reading this, and loved it. The story of a walk, but so much more - it’s the story of a landscape, a history, and its people, and the book captures perfectly the character of the area. Often humorous, always immensely readable and enjoyable.
@TiceRichard Late to a war? This from Trump is way off the irony-ometer scale. But, hey Dick, you just go on rooting for your favourite orange war criminal, eh?
@williamnhutton So Labour voters voted tactically… that doesn’t seem an unambiguous disaster for Labour if their constituency is still there. It certainly seems a victory for progressives… and (while the media doesn’t seem to have clocked this) a defeat for the hard right.
I’m bemused by media coverage of the by-election this morning. (Hello, @BBC.) The electorate did the smart thing & voted tactically to keep Reform out. Yet the coverage is all about how disastrous the result is for one of the progressive parties whose voters did the smart thing.
