I am a clinical psychologist and the former Associate Director of the Anxiety & Agoraphobia Treatment Center in Bala Cynwyd, PA...now retired, as of 12/31/2021!
@uiowa I started grad school (Psychology) at Iowa in 1972 and took Cambus frequently to get from Hawkeye Court (then married student) apartments to and from main campus. It was great to have it!

I never knew about the "Human Library." I think it is a fabulous concept. Apparently, there are library "branches" in some locations in the U.S. Meeting & listening to people fr. other backgrounds and in different circumstances is 1 way to lessen conflicts and misunderstandings.
In Denmark, there are libraries where you can borrow a person instead of a book to listen to their life story for 30 minutes. The goal is to fight prejudice. Each person has a title -
"unemployed," "refugee," "bipolar," and etc. - but listening to their story you realize how much you shouldn't "judge a book by its cover." This innovative project is active in 85+ countries. It is called The Human Library.
The N.Y. Post (never the most reliable news source!) recently published several articles claiming that individuals with OCD have increased risks of becoming radicalized and/or violent. These claims are inaccurate and harmful. The OCD Foundation rebuttal follows:
.@nypost We’re issuing this response today in regard to your recent article on OCD.
It is factually fraught, harmful, and not based in proven science. As a result, we would like to see it taken down.
In short: Do Better.

In that search, I found a post on Twitter. I've taken a screenshot, but will also provide a link to that post so they can receive credit for their work. https://t.co/MRWmwGiaVa After all, I think it is their like count that should be going up, not mine.
Happy #NationalNonprofitDay for those of you in the U.S. (and around the 🌏 )! Thank you for all the great work you do to build a better world. How is your organization celebrating the day internally with employees or externally with supporters? #socialgood
It is difficult to have intrusive thoughts and not respond to them. No one wants to agree with thoughts that go entirely against their values and beliefs. However - it is possible. Each time you resist, your brain learns that maybe you can tolerate the discomfort after all.
“#CLASP targets multiple risk factors for suicide using a unique combination of formats (in-person and telephone) and therapeutic strategies (values-goals clarification, problem solving, significant other support),” all of which are described in the book, says @ivanmiller3. (3/5)
