Desde el BID, estamos complacidos de formar parte de una nueva iniciativa innovadora. Con el apoyo de una garantía basada en políticas por un monto de US$200 millones del BID, y en asociación con The Nature Conservancy y otros aliados, Bahamas acaba de lanzar, con éxito, un canje de deuda por conservación marina que permitirá un ahorro de US$124 millones en 15 años y la creación de un fondo de US$20 millones para 2039, destinado a financiar la protección marina a largo plazo.

Esta iniciativa busca impulsar la economía azul y la biodiversidad, fortalecer la resiliencia climática en el Caribe y mejorar las políticas ambientales y la gestión de la deuda pública.
