@brianluidog Great coaches build for the 5% who want to compete. The money is in the 95% who want to train at 40 without getting hurt. Different product, different gym. I’m in the second cohort though :)
Two AI headlines this week, same story:
Amazon is reportedly looking to move $8B of Nvidia Grace Blackwell chips into an SPV and lease them back, while racks wait on power.
Microsoft walked away from a planned £2B UK data center because grid power won't arrive until the 2030s.
The bottleneck isn't chips anymore. It's electrons. That’s why SpaceX strategy on building the full stack is the only way to win at scale
We use Grok Bot to spot incidents in our support queue and quickly respond to every associated ticket.
In one incident, it cleared 204 tickets in about 10 minutes, with one engineer approving the batch.
Elon Musk reveals SpaceX is pointing the team that launches about 90% of the world’s mass to orbit at building AI compute, and calls it “the New York Yankees playing in Little League”
“So, as I think people are starting to realize, the constraint on deployment of superintelligence is more in power and cooling and infrastructure than it is in chips."
"So what we’ve done at SpaceX is we’ve taken a team that has been able to achieve a market share in mass to orbit that is almost 90% of all mass to orbit of Earth, where China is about, I think, roughly 6% and the rest of the world combined, including the rest of the U.S., is about 4%."
"So, a team that has been able to achieve results that are an order of magnitude greater than the rest of all competitors in space combined and applied that same team to the deployment of terrestrial compute."
"So, this is a bit like the New York Yankees playing in Little League. It’s not fair. But the net result is being able to deploy power cooling infrastructure at a rate that is vastly faster than anyone else and may at some point be faster than everyone else combined.”
Elon Musk on Grok Bot: "We're seeing the fastest growth of a product that I've ever seen in my life. I've never seen anything growth this fast. The usage of Grok Bot per user actually has been growing over time. They are using it more per week, not less. Enterprise Grok Bot will be in wide deployment in a few weeks. I think Grok Bot will use most of SI compute."
Stuck under side control, white belts try to bench-press their way out. They gas out and get submitted.
Brown belts frame, breathe, and wait for the space.
Chips just had their longest losing streak since 2008. Don't bench-press the market. Frame it: size down, keep dry powder, and wait for the space.
@CEO_AISOMA The bigger risk isn't failure, it's success with thin margins. BofA compares hyperscaler capex near $1T, about 3% of GDP, to the railroads (I think it’s even more). Railroads changed the world and still burned their investors.
@CrypticTrades_ The backlog is there, but it's priced at today's cost of capital. Anthropic just paid 10%+ on junior TPU debt versus 8.5% in June. If coupons keep climbing, some of that backlog gets renegotiated
No dark GPUs.
Gavin Baker: at the 2000 peak, 97% of US fiber sat unused. Today there are no dark GPUs.
But Anthropic is reportedly paying 10%+ on $9B of junior debt to buy TPUs, up from 8.5% four months ago.
Demand isn't the risk. The cost of capital is.
Watch the coupons, not the benchmarks.
Bot is now faster and a bit more delightful.
There is a long road to a bot that "just works" (in the limit, it should be able to handle things in the physical world 🙂). More to come.
What's New in Grok Bot is on Friday 30 Oct. The people building it walk through the latest features and how to put them to work. https://t.co/or89xyuvaP
