11 years ago on Tuesday, Southampton claimed an important 1-1 draw at West Ham.
Jos Hooiveld’s goal earned a point - he also got the winner vs the Hammers at St Mary’s that season.
The big Dutchman weighed in with 7 goals in the Championship #SaintsFC
@AlfieHouseEcho@SimonJones_DM Would imagine £25-30m or so will do the job. I mean, £20m nowadays is basically the equivalent of a £1.5m club record signing from 1994🤣
@joshhollandLCFC I'm a Saints fan and thought he'd do OK at Rangers, having contemplated where it went wrong with us. Nope! But overall did well for us. Good man manager and I never felt he was arrogant, but we were nowhere near good enough defensively. He should have done more to address that.
@XtraLeicester At Saints I'd say his man management was excellent. And we went on a massive unbeaten run too. Not enough quality to play his style in the Premier League, and totally embarrassed ourselves. Should do well for Leicester in League One I'd imagine? Will need a good start though...
@AlfieHouseEcho@AdamBlackmore I've no issue with whatever happens with RS. He's off to the World Cup and tbh that may lead to offers elsewhere. Can understand maybe why we hadn't sorted a new deal for him yet. But no hard feelings if he moves on. Better than bailing mid contract imo.
A gentle reminder that whatever the hell you think of Spygate - the FA is still investigating the various concerns raised by the EFL, and we have no control over that decision #SaintsFC
@physio_back@AdamBlackmore Very true. The performances and spirit were there for all to see in recent months. You can't make that up, if he was no good the players would have downed tools. I wouldn't like to predict what will happen next though - all up in the air...
@jamesdelve@henrywinter I've no issue condemning that. THB will need to explain himself. Scienza is a great player but he goes down way too easily. Nevertheless my point is correct - nothing gets done about diving in particular. It's not just a Saints thing. Has happened for decades!
@philmcnulty If you look at his career so far, the manager who got the best out of him was Russell Martin. He had complete faith in his ability. He needs time, but I get that may not happen when you have a massive transfer fee to justify.
Since losing to Hull at home, we've taken 44pts from 18 games. That's exceptional. Get the final game out the way with no injuries and then it's all about the playoffs. We've been there and done it two years ago, no reason to think we can't do it again😊 #SaintsFC
@KieranMaguire Thanks for sharing. Feels roughly in line with expectations. Think most fans understand no promotion will see the likes of Scienza, THB etc move on. I am just going to enjoy last night tbh😊
Never easy watching Saints! But we've deserved 6th place for a while. Momentum is with us. Would be one hell of a turnaround if we can get promoted, what a rollercoaster #saintsfc
Scienza once again saves the day. That's 4pts this week instead of 1, thanks to his goals. If he's injured for any length of time, we're in big trouble. No exaggeration to say we'd be near the bottom three without him. He's not keeping anyone out of the team #SaintsFC
@AlfieHouseEcho I think it's made worse coming from £99. In the grand scheme, £295 for 23 games is pretty good tbh. The club itself has come a very long way, I remember watching Eastleigh v Saints pre season in 2006 and the facilities now are first class. Just hope they can stay up!
@PaulBlight6 Yes the S Devon coast return I can well imagine, rain in varying intensity since about 4pm yesterday. Only some minor breaks. Been thoroughly foul! And all on top of everything we've seen already this year...
@AlfieHouseEcho Classic crazy Championship campaign. 6th place is achievable for anyone 16th or higher. Even Charlton in 18th only 9 points off 6th place! It's unreal Millwall are 3rd with GD of +4. All very much to play for!
