Stop saying that Trump will be acquitted because Jack Smith can't prove that he knew the election wasn't really stolen.
That's not how the law works.
If you own a restaurant and you tell your servers to put bleach in your customers' drinks because you heard that it prevents COVID, it doesn't mean you can't be held responsible if those customers get sick.
If your friend tells you that your neighbors are committing election fraud by voting both in person and by mail, it doesn't give you the right to tell someone else to steal their mail-in ballots from their mailbox.
Jack Smith doesn't need to prove that Trump knew the election wasn't stolen. He needs to prove that Trump took illegal steps prevent the legal certification process from taking place.
Even if the election was stolen, Trump doesn't have a right to break the law in order to make it right. Just like if you think your neighbor is voting twice, it doesn't give you the right to break the law to prevent them from doing so. Instead you call the police, and/or challenge it in court.
Just like the other January 6th participants who tried to claim they thought the election was stolen, and it didn't work as a defense, neither will it work for Trump. That's just not how the law works.
Additionally for those who claim that Trump got bad legal advice. I agree. That's why attorney/client privilege was waived. But that doesn't mean he can commit crimes. Also if Trump were to make that claim in court, he would have to likely take the stand and waive attorney/client privilege.
