I wonder, because of the weight of modern cars, the Safer Barrier should be the solution instead of bare Armco when there’s not tyres in front of it? You know the @fia will look forensically at the accident continue to push for better safety.
Maximum respect to the marshals on the scene and the medical car team for diving straight in to help @RGrosjean .Thanks you Jackie Stewart, Sid Watkins, Dr Trammell, Dr Olvey and all the motor racing safety pioneers.
#F1
Struggling to understand how Armco is still used at that angle in relation to the circuit. Especially when so many drivers in the past have not been so lucky. It is however a real testament to the safety of the car, especially the Halo. So happy to see @RGrosjean walk away.
@StrangRacing I can’t believe that Armco still being used at such an angle to a straight. Especially knowing how many drivers have not been that lucky in the past.
Always a moment that you stop and remember the men whose lives have been lost over the years in Formula One.
The men whose deaths meant rules were tightened, cars were changed.
And it keeps men like Romain alive today. 🙏🏻
All the F1 fuel tanks built by ATL in Milton Keynes. @tedkravitz speculating that @RGrosjean fire was fuel from the collector pot and tank was not actually ruptured. ATL boss Giles Dawson is very proud of their product.
@CroftyF1 testament to how far F1 safety has come. Helmet Koinigg, Francois Cevert, Denis Dayan and Gerry Birrell all had the same accident involving Armco and none of them walked away.
Great shot of the Ford Team fitness retreat in St Moritz in 1972. L-R Michael Kranefuss, Gerry, Hans Heyer, Sir Jackie Stewart, Gunther Traub, Dieter Glemser and @johnfitzuk https://t.co/EBotJFk4dY
@Stuart_Dent This is Alex, Kara’s brother, but have passed on the tweet! Mum is sharp as a tack, doesn’t forget a thing! And thanks, in the final stages of securing funding for the film so we’re hoping not too long now!
@Stuart_Dent@Hallbean Hi Stuart, not very active on here so only just saw this tweet! Gerry’s widow is my mother, she remembers the letter! I’m also currently making a documentary about Gerry in partnership with an Edinburgh production company.
An appeal to the #F1 community - as you may know we tragically lost my daughter Ila last month. The Italian GP in Monza was the last time we were all together as a family - but we don’t have a high quality copy of this photo. Please can you RT and let us know if you took one? @F1
It's taken a huge amount of work, but thanks to all our supporters plus @scotborders & @heritagelottery it's now green for go! https://t.co/AJjXD79qOF
