During this tough time for Bay Area Jews, Kashering Desta Ethiopian Cafe has been a blessing, and small win for building bridges between communities. Thanks @WallAlix for capturing the story. https://t.co/VqNPBO43bi
After a disgusting act of antisemitism destroying Chabad of Oakland's Menorah at Lake Merritt, hundreds of Jews gathered together to light the 7th candle, and to proclaim united that we will NOT BE AFRAID to stand as proud Jews. Am Yisrael Chai! https://t.co/JzMwcI7ztb @SFJCRC
7 PM TODAY at the Lake Merritt Amphitheater - We Join Together Against Antisemitism
Where: Lake Merritt Amphitheater
When: TONIGHT (Wednesday December 13th) at 7:00 PM
At tonight’s #Oakland City Council meeting, a resolution passed in support of an immediate ceasefire that failed to mention the atrocities of #Hamas, including rape, torture, and mass murder of Jews, Bedouins, Thai and Filipino farm workers, and many more.
As disturbing was the completely inability of council members to reign in several hours antisemitic rhetoric, including chants of “white Hitler,” saying “antisemitism isn’t real,” and denying that the Oct. 7 attacks occurred.
CEO @TyeGregory reflected “Tonight’s meeting was a complete disgrace and will bring nothing constructive to actual Palestinians and Israelis on the ground. What it instead has achieved is the fanning of flames of antisemitism in Oakland.”
JCRC would like to thank Councilmembers @DanKalb and @reidforoakland for having the courage to condemn terrorism.
HAPPENING NOW: Jewish community members are holding a vigil in front of #Oakland City Hall to honor the victims of Hamas before councilmembers vote on an inflammatory anti-Israel resolution.
If there's one thing you listen to about the war in Israel against Hamas, let it be this podcast, interviewing survivors, and families of those massacred and kidnapped in Southern Israel. Bari is among the first to share them in English. This is what we are fighting for.
Today on Honestly, nine stories from the more than three dozen Israelis @bariweiss and @thefp reporters have spoken to since the attacks on October 7. These stories are difficult to hear. But we hope that you will take the time to listen. https://t.co/188HsptipM
I had some time this summer to write about a band that brings me a lot of joy and that can teach us a thing or two not only about music, but also how to harness online communities and build culture. https://t.co/Nzb8WAZQC1
Welcome back Meira & Rav @gershonalbert of Beth Jacob Congregation, Oakland CA.
Over the years, the Alberts did it all: Counselors, Kollel Torat Chesed member, Academics/Rec Staff, music-guy & Division Head! #MatchMadeInHeavenOnEarth#NiggunHodaah@zushamusic
The latest single from Zusha is “Niggun Hodaah” by Rabbi Gershon Albert of @BJCOakland. After the song dropped, he told our @DavidAMWilensky how his infectious, joyful tune caught the ear of the hipster Hasidic musical duo.

One of the best niggunin ever. It was my first exposure to the world of the Baal Shem Tov. Completely life changing.
