๐จ ACTION ALERT: Help Secure Permanent Nonprofit Security Funding Statewide!
We're closer than ever to securing permanent funding for California's Nonprofit Security Grant Program.
The California State Assembly's budget proposal includes $80 million in ongoing annual funding to help protect organizations at risk of hate-motivated violence, including synagogues and other houses of worship, LGBTQ centers, schools, and reproductive health clinics.
This historic opportunity is the result of years of advocacy and thousands of messages from community members like you. But the budget is still being negotiated, and we need your voice now.

During World War II, 500,000+ Jewish Americans served in the United States Armed Forces.
More than 11,000 sadly didn't return home alive.
Jewish American troops not only fought the horrors of Nazism abroad, but also faced antisemitism within the ranks at home and overseas. Even in the face of prejudice, they served with extraordinary courage and resolve, often risking their lives while still finding ways to observe Jewish traditions, gather for prayer services, and maintain their identity far from home.
This Memorial Day, JCRC honors all those who gave their lives in service to the United States. Their legacy is a reminder that the freedoms and security we enjoy are never guaranteed, but safeguarded through selflessness and extraordinary courage.
May their memory be a blessing, and may their sacrifice never be forgotten.

Chag Shavuot Sameach from JCRC! ๐พ๐ฐ
Shavuot, also known as the Festival of Weeks, is celebrated 50 days after Passover. The holiday commemorates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and marks the culmination of the ancient agricultural harvest season.
Jewish communities around the world celebrate by enjoying festive dairy dishes such as cheesecake and blintzes, staying up late to study Torah, and decorating homes and synagogues with greenery and flowers.
๐จ ACTION ALERT: Tell California's Leaders to Protect the Nonprofit Security Grants & Holocaust Survivor Care Programs!
California's leaders are currently finalizing the state budget. At a time of rising antisemitism and threats to vulnerable communities, California must continue investing in the safety and dignity of those most at risk.
Please take one minute to help us ensure two critical programs โ nonprofit security grants and Holocaust survivor assistance โ are included in this yearโs budget.

Last night, JCRC and our community partners celebrated Jewish American Heritage Month in Downtown Oakland with elected officials, community leaders, and East Bay neighbors all in one room.
The evening was full of meaningful conversations, new connections, and moments that reminded us how Jewish heritage, culture, and community continue to shape the East Bay in powerful ways. We were also honored to receive a Jewish American Heritage Month proclamation from the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us! ๐
One year ago, Sarah Milgrim & Yaron Lischinsky were murdered in a horrific act of antisemitic violence outside the Capital Jewish Museum.
Today, we remember them โ and reaffirm that when antisemitic hate is normalized, we are all less safe.
May their memories be for a blessing.
JCRC is proud to serve as a Community Council member on the Western Addition-Geary Boulevard Community Study, working alongside organizations representing the Black, Japanese, and Jewish communities, as well as other neighborhood partners and the City of San Francisco, to help reimagine the future of the Geary Expressway.
The study is a community driven effort examining how the Geary Expressway has impacted surrounding neighborhoods for decades. It focuses on improving connectivity, public space, pedestrian safety, transit access, and economic opportunity along the corridor.
Through public engagement and collaboration, the study aims to develop a more inclusive vision for the future of Geary Boulevard. JCRC is honored to help ensure the voices and histories of longtime communities are part of that vision.
Will the next California Superintendent of Public Instruction defend AB 715 โ the Jewish communityโs landmark antisemitism bill passed last year?
On Sunday, all five candidates vying to lead Californiaโs public schools joined the Jewish community for a statewide candidate forum to discuss our most pressing questions.
The next Superintendent will oversee the largest public school system in the nation โ serving nearly six million students. For the Jewish community, this election couldn't matter more.
