So inspired by meeting this powerful group of amazing advocates & community representatives in Ottawa 🇨🇦 yesterday.
Thank you to @LetsStopAIDS for the wonderful organizing and to the Honourable @Rob_Oliphant for co-sponsoring our meeting on Parliament Hill - the real place for people power!
There was so much wisdom, determination, care, passion, and love from the different speakers. I was profoundly moved by the compelling personal testimonies and strong solidarity with communities across the world. Friends, you made me feel strong!
And at this pivotal moment in the global AIDS response amid so much devastation & disruption, I am confident that Canadian civil society will continue to forcefully make the case for the continued investment of the Canadian government not only domestically, but also in the global #HIVresponse, including @UNAIDS and the @GlobalFund.
We are all stronger together. #endAIDS
📣Today is #YouthHIVDay and we are calling on world leaders to stop funding cuts. With over $50B in foreign aid cuts, millions of lives are at risk of losing treatment. We need global solidarity, leadership, and action.
✊Join us in calling for #ZeroCutsZeroCases#Youth#HIV #Advocacy #FundingCuts #ForeignAid #GlobalSolidarity #AIDS #2030Goals
Listening to Pierre Poilievre is truly embarrassing. Canada needs a strong and respectful leader, someone who can navigate the economic challenges ahead without leveraging ideological populism. Poilievre is certainly not that leader.

Visiting Hoymas, this amazing community-based organization that provides services for men who have sex with men in Kenya—a country where same-sex relations are still criminalized, leaving key populations without access to prevention and treatment due to fear.

Such a fantastic day bringing together scholars for the UCL and @UCL_IAS Writing Ethnography, Notes From the Field conference. Grateful for the opportunity to present my work, and engage with fantastic ethnographers. Special shoutout to @SarojiniSapru who organized with me. 😊
Bogotá’s ‘LGBTQI+ houses’ are transforming support for displaced LGBTQI+ Venezuelans, writes @UCL Geography PhD Candidate @Ty_Valiquette in @NatCities.
I'll be on CBC syndicated radio this morning, on ten radio stations across Canada, discussing the Venezuelan election and adding perspectives from my research/fieldwork.
Of 7.7 million Venezuelans abroad, only 70,000 are registered to vote in this election. Their voice is being silenced. With @cvalenzu, @NorthwesternU & @suyvonne@YorkUniversity we examine the barriers & suppression tactics blocking their participation. https://t.co/l2Fl8H4Hzw
Extremely relevant research findings connecting public policies, migration, and children were released today. Congratulations, @Ty_Valiquette, on being part of this important initiative.
OUT NOW: Our @ucl & @ECPATUK study is the 1st to conclude that #children in Home Office hotels were at “increased risk of #trafficking. “This is a national scandal which must not be repeated” @s_ayebkarlsson (Lead author and PI)—featured in the Guardian.
