@corazonm050@saragrummert I feel that student-athletes have a lot of pressure trying to perform well in sports & academics, there should be some type of balance that allows them to spend the same amount of hrs in academics and sports & hopefully see a difference. @saragrummert#ucr50
Having an academic support center for collegeathletes can be a helpful tool in providing them with resources to have a successful college experience while they engage in sports. However, their busy schedules do not allow them totake advantage of these centers.#ucr50@saragrummert
@Kass_DeLaCruzzz @saragrummert I agree that athletes should be able to communicate through social media and I find unfair that the athletic department wants to take away their rights in expressing their thoughts and opinions. #ucr50@saragrummert
The recruiting process is based on strict regulations and guidelines from the NCAA, do you believe that coaches and recruiters follow these regulations when recruiting an athlete? #UCR50@saragrummert
@HeungyingW @saragrummert I agree that there is still gender inequality and discrimination and it seems that Title IX has brought awareness about regulations for women, but society still finds a way to separate women from receiving equality as men. #ucr50@saragrummert
Title IX protects pregnant women from being discriminated or kicked out of the team. The regulations mandate that pregnant athletes be treated like any other athlete with a temporary medical condition. #ucr50@saragrummert https://t.co/gDu59hbWOL
@DianaTo41965596 @saragrummert The field filled with thousands of ppl who are watching the game can be beneficial for an athlete to take a stand on social issues. Athletes are role models to some people, and by them taking action, it can bring awareness to the problems in society. #ucr50@saragrummert
I thought it was courageous of Colin Kaepernick to take a stand for civil rights by using his platform and status to raise awareness of issues affecting minors in the U.S. Should athletes be required to stand for the national anthem during a game? @saragrummert#ucr50
@madzj_@saragrummert The media does have an effect on how ppl view student-athletes. In movies, athletes are always playing the “dumb” jock & needing help academically. More movies should have athletes be inspiring & smart, so they are not seen negatively in society. #ucr50@saragrummert
Professors stereotyping student-athletes about their intellectual abilities can be a downfall to their engagement to have an enjoyable college experience because the athlete starts to believe the negativity of what said about them?Do you think that its true #ucr50@saragrummert
@PopperSamantha@saragrummert I feel that Universities look after the coaches interest and that’s why they don't have them sign contracts. It is unfair that athletes sign their life away with the NLI and coaches can get up and leave without being penalize. #ucr50@saragrummert
Is it unfair for student-athletes to be penalized if they break the NLI, but if coaches leave the school they are not penalized by the NLI agreement? Should coaches be held responsible as well as the students? #ucr50@saragrummert https://t.co/2w1DAODlyV via @usatodayhss
@angu_adriana@saragrummert I would have said that athletes shouldn't be receiving extra compensation because they are getting rewarded with tuition. However, with their busy schedules I feel that they should get some compensation for their time and hard work, because It is like a job #ucr50@saragrummert
If college athletes were to get compensated from their coaches salaries, would that affect the performance of the coach? Would it change the athletes' performance by not having a coach that is motivated? #ucr50@saragrummert
@emilykim00@saragrummert I agree that football is a very dangerous sport, but I believe that athletes know the risk they are putting themselves into by playing the game. I feel that we do have some responsibility in supporting this dangerous sport because people pay to watch it. #UCR50@saragrummert
Many colleges and universities invest a lot of money and time in the athletic department, is that because coaches and the school's receive high compensation from it all? #UCR50@saragrummert
