As you may know, it's a sad time for some of our friends in Social VR. While most of us come from VRChat (which is not going anywhere!), Flirtual has welcomed folks from many different platforms and we want to take some time to appreciate them this week.

Instead of our usual VRChat bar night, please join us on April Fools tomorrow for a (perhaps foolhardy but very real) 6-hour barhop across 6 different social VR apps!

22:00: Meta Horizon Worlds (Gatsby's Bar)
The VR version of Horizon Worlds enters maintenance mode on June 15, with reduced functionality and no new world uploads. Come experience the metaverse's full glory while you can!?
23:00: Cluster (BAR GEKKO)
Cluster is alive and well, but we want to showcase one of the few remaining cross-platform social VR apps that we think is pretty cool. Check it out!
00:00: Banter (BrainWash Cafe)
Banter is another surviving cross-platform app featuring advanced physics and... feet?
01:00: Multiverse (The Flirtual Bar)
Featuring an ambitious interconnected map, Multiverse goes offline on May 1. We've thrown together our very own bar here to celebrate its final moments.
02:00: Compensation VR (Lounge)
Officially shut down in 2023, I am personally hosting Compensation VR's first private server based on their open source code. With some inspiration from Rec Room, Compensation offers games and impressive in-VR world creation tools.
03:00: VRChat (^RecCenter)
Rec Room closes its doors on June 1, but unfortunately new account creation has been disabled as of yesterday. Since we are unable to host an accessible event in Rec Room itself, we will be ending the night with a recreation of Rec Room's RecCenter in VRChat.

All of these are available on both Quest and PC! Horizon Worlds' VR mode only supports Quest, but is accessible in 2D on the web or mobile.

We would also like to raise a glass to AltspaceVR, High Fidelity, Mozilla Hubs, NeosVR, Lavender, Helios, vTime XR, and all the other fallen ones we won't be able to visit tomorrow.

Finally, while this event is focused on cross-platform social VR apps, don't forget to check out the excellent Resonite & ChilloutVR on PCVR, and consider perusing our carefully curated list of multiplayer VR games on Flirtual (Settings > Basic info > VR apps/games).

sorry you've had this experience. we have & continue to put a lot of resources into flagging these accounts and we get rid of the vast majority fast/immediately, but they are persistent. it's a tough problem everywhere.

reusing similar pictures like this isn't common, but detecting it is in our list. open to more suggestions!

the thing that slips through most frequently is scammers collecting discord usernames from profiles and waiting a while to DM in order to avoid detection. if your discord username is anywhere on your profile, strongly recommend removing it and using our connection feature instead to only share your discord with matches. (more recently, we do try to detect this and warn you about it)
