A bisexual American he/him programmer and 3D artist. Once made a flight game out of Doom 1993, and is DOING IT AGAIN. Lord of all that is cringe. Likes animals.
>Receive shit pay compared to similarly-skilled peers.
>Subject to horrific crunch and deadlines.
>Blamed for everything that goes wrong with a game, regardless of actual fault.
Yeah, you know what? Fuck you. Let them scream. They've earned that much.
Western game developers screaming at GDC 2024 against Gamer Gate, patriarchy, and the industry 💀
Totally Sane behavior. No wonder they end up making female characters look like vegan gremlins 😆
The west has fallen
Misty mountains!
This is a new map I threw together called Valleys, mostly to play around with Unity terrain. I think I did a fairly good job, but there's still some things I'd like to add and change.

Take flight once more, my dragon!
Coming back to this project after a LONG hiatus. Found a rather nasty bug after import that caused projectiles to have incorrect positions and rotations. Fixed it quickly, though.

Getting a crash course in SQL today. Trying to make a simple HTML/JavaScript interface that hooks into a database to display data. Gonna try and have it done by Monday.

I grow weary of people calling themselves old when they're in their 30s and 40s.
People live to be 90 these days. You haven't even lived half your life yet in your 40s. Stop calling yourself old, because you are objectively not.
@Darket696 @ConorMODonovan Oh believe me, the feeling is mutual. That's why I even bothered commenting in the first place.
I'm tired of pompous asses slagging something I enjoy and put in significant effort to learn how to make. So forgive me if I'm more than a little dismissive of his thesis.
@Darket696 @ConorMODonovan I don't know what I said that could possibly strike that kind of nerve, but if you're that upset, use the block button.
For real. You're not gonna hurt my feelings. Not if you harbor that kind of vitriol.
@Bolverk15 Careful now. Saying anything remotely critical of this quote means you're insecure and have nothing going on in your life other than video games.
Or so I've heard...
(I actually agree, BTW)
With the obvious exception of potential death threats and harassment, I have a tough time feeling sorry for Mr. Goransson. I owe my interest in programming and 3D art to games, and the implication that his life was better off without them is distressing, to say the least.
Last night, 39-year-old composer Ludwig Göransson won his second Academy Award for his score to ‘Oppenheimer’. In a heartfelt speech, he thanked his parents for giving him his foundation in music.
@TrentKusters Sorry, but no. He is flat-out implying that avoiding games is the reason he is successful. Every successful person that enjoys games has grounds to balk at such a statement.
Me personally, I learned programming and 3D art because of games. He can take his 'tude and stuff it.
@RealYouTubeKids Jiggle physics are one thing, but that showoff-y ladder slide animation has GOT to be one of the most suspension-of-disbelief destroying things I've ever seen. It's not practical, plausible, or even cool; it's just stupid to look at.
@csmithshine Certainly makes misinformation a lot harder. And it helps that actual users write the notes and they are subject to a peer review process of sorts. At least that's how I understand they work. Correct if wrong.
@ConorMODonovan Since I took up programming and 3D modeling because I love video games and wanted to make them, I have a problem with the idea that games and self-actualization are separate things. One does not need to slag another's interests to prop up their own, which is what Ludwig is doing.
@TeganJosie Nope. That's the definition of sunk cost fallacy right there. I've dropped games like hot potatoes because they couldn't hold my interest. May be harsh, but I'd rather be amused with the games I buy.
@zedddarchy @pinkandbluegum @gimmickannoying The idea that we need to blame someone is purely reactionary on the part of people blaming. We don't need to blame when we acknowledge how horrible things were. All that needs to happen is we accept that people were hurt, and make it so it never happens again.
That's all.
