** The Short Story Story **
My public journey to learn how to write a short story
Get a cup of anything, your lunch or dinner, gather around and come in!
Today's story is "In The Cart" by Anton Chekhov
First, a background on my motivation
Eagerly waiting for 21st Aug and impressed by the quality of pre launch sneak peak material. As Netflix CEO once said about REAL Netflix competitors being drinking wine and playing boardgames, this education platform seems to understand just that, and more ;)
"As soon as you present a problem to me, I have some ready-made answer. Those ready-made answers get in the way of clear thinking, and we can’t help but have them."
– Daniel Kahneman
Now I'm intrigued to see a 1hr podcast by Lex Fridman, sponsored by Gucci and on Facebook! 😂 I'll accept Gucci, I'll accept Facebook... But the 1hr is taking it a bit too far, scammer!
Quick warning. It's absurd to have to say, but I often get impersonated 🙃 This scammer (in the image) has been emailing a large number of people inviting them to podcast. The email is not very convincing, but I'm sure these will keep getting better, probably with the help of LLMs. We're entering a weird world. So please be careful and use your best judgement.
Btw, despite what the email says, the podcast is not sponsored by Gucci... yet 🤣 Also, I do all guest communication & scheduling myself.

I know Alice. Her sister is seriously sick but with an option for a promising experimental treatment that is not covered under the Italian national health insurance. This is an appeal to kind souls to help give Alice's sister more time with her 11yr son.

“Nothing. You began as nothing and you will end as nothing. And in between—everything, and nothing. In between—joy and sorrow, beauty and decay. Everything yours to partake of yours to bear. Yours to see, to know, to give birth to—and to let go. None of it yours to have.
Not even you are yours to have.
You belong to a wholeness so great you cannot even conceive of it. No, it is not a belonging; nothing owns you. You are simply part of it. You came out of it, and you will return to it. You do not ever leave it; you are part of it forever. And this is your moment to be alive.”
This poem—by Marcia Falk—found me in the Synagogue today and gripped me. If only we could tune into that unperceived, larger-than-life wholeness and find peace in the part that’s our to play, somewhere between Galaxy Cluster SMACS 0723 and David Geffen Hall.
Urgent Request to
@Maxar
Massive earthquake in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains has left tiny towns in need.
Can Maxar expertise in satellite imagery help identify the most affected areas and Condition of roads and bridges?
Your support would make a world of difference!
Things we should normalize:
1. Letting people take breaks and get some air without anything being 'wrong.'
2. Allowing someone to be silent or aloof without assuming they're standoffish or rude.
