@JgrahamEDU @WorkFearlessly Avoidance of conflict is known as a primary team dysfunction. *Guided practice* on the diff b/w ‘healthy’ conflict/discourse & the destructive kind is key to growth. We focus on the topic from K-12 levels (best to develop the mindsets/skills early!) to corporate learning.

@LHaywoodScience Not all virtual engagement is the same. With lessened chances to engage with teachers, peers, and receive continuous feedback, the process can be draining. The best way to help Ss cope is preventative in nature: create virtual experiences that engage Ss to create and collaborate.

@ImpactFla Absolutely. Step 1 is for district & school administrators to gain a stronger understanding of what is #SEL and how it's related, but distinct from #mentalhealth (also key) and #trauma (also needs attention). And, how the SEL process needs to be embedded directly into academics.

@STEAMcultivator Hear, hear. There’s a world of research on how student agency & quality peer interaction cultivate the engagement necessary for deeper learning. We’d then have the elements necessary for a true competency-based approach! Instead, a race to check an ‘accountability’ box. Sigh.

It’s the same root issue companies who don’t understand remote work have with employees...except applied to kids! When those ‘in power’ dont truly understand competency metrics, they rely on ‘seat time’ as their primary proof.
