the thing i hate most about crypto is how so many of the OG people who made it off of speculation hype and the currency part of cryptocurrencies (money is literally in the name) just pretend like they are infinitely holier than everyone else now

Quick sanity check for the Bitcoin L2 space:

1. BitVM gives you trust-minimized bridging, not the trustless bridging you would get in an actual L2 (l2beat definition)

2. For Bitcoin L2s/rollups, we don't have trustless bridging anywhere, and we might not for the entirety of 2024.

3. If someone is claiming they have a new Bitcoin L2 with [fancy word 1] and [fancy word 2], assume they are just trying to make money from a token launch.

4. Because Bitcoin doesn't have smart contracts and Bitcoin script is limited, rollup solutions are often incredibly complex and require a massive amount of due diligence to verify claims.

5. It is 100x easier to make claims than it is to verify them. Don't trust. Verify.

6. If you see new projects popping up, tag me, @0x_orkun, @BitcoinRollups, @alexeiZamyatin, or other smart Bitcoin L2 devs to take a look at the tech. Marketing claims almost always overstate the truth about the technology.
