Saudade dos tempos em que o Labour Party tinha políticos como Tony Benn. Seu argumento para votar contra a adesão britânica à guerra no Iraque continua atualíssima
Today in the early morning, Israeli police accompanied by municipal officials forcibly entered the @UNRWA compound in East Jerusalem. Police motorcycles, as well as trucks & forklifts, were brought in & all communications were cut. Furniture, IT equipment & other property was seized. The @UN flag was pulled down & replaced with an Israeli flag.
This latest action represents a blatant disregard of Israel’s obligation as a United Nations Member State to protect & respect the inviolability of UN premises.
Following months of harassment that included arson attacks in 2024, hateful demonstrations & intimidation, supported by a large-scale disinformation campaign, as well as anti-UNRWA legislation passed by the Israeli parliament in breach of its international obligations, UNRWA personnel were forced to vacate the compound at the beginning of this year.
However, whatever action taken domestically, the compound retains its status as a UN premises, immune from any form of interference.
Israel is party to the Convention on the Privileges & Immunities of the UN. The Convention makes UN premises inviolable - in other words, immune from search and/or seizure - and makes UN property and assets immune from legal process.
The International Court of Justice has also underscored that Israel is obliged to cooperate with UNRWA & other UN agencies.
There can be no exceptions. To allow this represents a new challenge to international law, one that creates a dangerous precedent anywhere else the UN is present across the world.
Horrifying 🚨
CNN investigation: Killed then bulldozed. Witnesses, videos and satellite imagery point to Israeli forces burying the dead bodies of Palestinian aid seekers.
I do not think that my life, if any of it remains, will witness anything harder than those days in Gaza. The loss of loved ones, the loss of passion, the loss of my home. We have been living under bombardment for two years, and the planes descend upon us as if to shatter the sky a thousand times, destroying everything we love before any news of safety reaches us.
Every day here passes like an eternity, and the night is harsher than the day, as we wait for news about our loved ones or anticipate a missile falling on our heads. Our words fall from our fingers, and our dreams scatter with the smoke of burning homes, yet despite everything, we try to cling to the remnants of our humanity.
If spraying red paint on a couple of jet fighters to be used in genocide is “terrorism,” what do you call the spilling of real blood of hundreds of thousands of defenceless & starving Palestinians, the total destruction of their homes, hospitals, schools, universities, & other infrastructure? A symbolic gesture? Wake up world!
"It's a killing field," one soldier said. "Where I was stationed, between one and five people were killed every day. They're treated like a hostile force [...]
Our form of communication is gunfire."

New UNOCHA report included a map showing that over 82% of Gaza is now under Israeli military control, displacement orders or both.
Very little area is the only place where Palestinians are still permitted to remain; however, civilians in this area are also bombed and killed regularly.
Heartbreaking video of a man interrupting Al-Jazeera’s Arabic Correspondent in Deir al-Balah, saying “We are not okay. A two-year-old child was crushed by a truck while waiting for food. Talk about us. It is enough. We have been afflicted by every pain.”
🚨WATCH: CNN investigation debunks Israeli and U.S. claims about the Rafah GHF aid site massacre
➤ CNN verified over a dozen eyewitnesses accounts, and videos from the site, all pointing to Israeli forces opening fire on Palestinians approaching the Tel al-Sultan GHF aid site.
➤ CNN’s findings directly contradict the Israeli military’s denial of responsibility. The IDF claimed: “The IDF did not fire at civilians while they were near or within the humanitarian aid distribution site and that reports to this effect are false.” They later added: “This week, it was claimed that the IDF fired at civilians in an aid distribution area. This report is entirely false and echoes the propaganda of the terrorist organization Hamas.”
➤ Forensic analysis found gunfire consistent with Israeli military machine guns, mounted on tanks.
➤ At least 31 Palestinians were killed — many shot in the head and chest. Doctors retrieved bullets matching Israeli military weapons from the wounded and dead.
➤ Survivors say gunfire came from Israeli tanks; CNN geolocated the video scenes to Israeli-controlled areas.
This CNN report leaves little doubt: Palestinians were fired on by Israeli forces — despite a media blitz by the Israeli government to deny responsibility and spin the narrative.

One day, when it's safe, when there's no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it's too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this.
I'm alarmed by reported plans by Israel to expand ground operations in Gaza.
I emphasize the @UN will not participate in any operation that doesn't adhere to international law & humanitarian principles - humanity, impartiality, independence & neutrality.
I reiterate my appeal for the full support of @UNRWA’s work.
And I reject the repeated displacement of the population – along with any question of forced displacement outside of Gaza.
Enough. We demand rapid, safe, and unimpeded access to starving civilians in Gaza.
We have a plan. We have thousands of trucks of food at the border. Let us in. Let us work.

The humanitarian crisis in #Gaza is beyond imagination.
Air strikes, blockades, and starvation continue, with tens of thousands killed and injured. Displaced families face collapsing infrastructure, sewage overflows, and empty markets.
The siege must be lifted to ensure vital humanitarian and commercial supplies reach Gaza.
