So much smearing & belittling of consultants in the press, but this, from today’s @thetimes letters page, could not have put it more beautifully.
Pls RT if you agree.

@KerryMG As a long term contractor and freelancer - I’d say the plan is fine…but reality always wins. Mine is normally - arrive @ home office desk circa 9.07 unshowered w/kids still protesting about going to nursery downstairs. Drink vat of coffee. Doom scroll till first meeting. Weep.
What I realise - if you want to get off the hamster wheel you have to rotate it extra fast to stand a chance of setting up whatever you need to get off…business, savings whatever…which means in reality you are even less likely to do it
@Emmajourno@SaimaMir I can give you a tale of a false positive from an nhs one that led to me going on a waiting list for surgery (repeatedly delayed for two years due to covid) only to be proven false by a private one.
@SaimaMir Amen. We’ve had 2.5 weeks of Covid, now onto a vicious tummy bug. I’m missing deadlines left right & centre to comfort two smalls back to health. Yes - I know it’s what I signed up for but doesn’t mean it’s not depressing or endlessly frustrating coming up with ‘todays’ excuse!
You don’t know resilience and digging deep until you’ve done a three week covid relay and then gone back to back into a vomiting bug with two under fives
So - my eldest is 5 this year, my youngest 2…Covid hunker for two years overlayed with Parenting hunker for five…I feel like I’m finally able to give space to being creative again. Feels like I’m starting again! #amwriting#writerscommunity
