It feels like I need to post something here since I decided to sign up for premium and get the blue checkmark so that people know more about who I am because the "Bio" section isn't enough space.
The name is Gary Hamrick. I'm a writer, been involved with the media production field (film, TV, and video scene), and a number of other things over the past 30-plus years. I've not kept in touch with many (if any) of my old friends and acquaintances from the film scene in Georgia since ending up on disability. Nevertheless, I will probably be commenting periodically on Film and TV stuff on this platform.
If pressed, I'll admit to doing some sports journalism during and briefly after college so I might rant on that as well. I'm liable to make comments here and there but I will probably limit my rants to things that I'm a fan of such as college football and professional wrestling.
I've been a wrestling fan for around forty years. I've also been blessed with friends who have made their way into the pro-wrestling business and garnered a few friends and acquaintances on top of that. There's a few stories there and some of them may be recounted someday. I don't consider myself part of the IWC and find myself shaking my head in amusement at the so-called dirt sheets as often than I agree with them. (I am somehow still a huge fan of Busted Open Radio.) I've been told by a friend who is a producer for the WWE that I can't legally pitch ideas (and why) but I'm liable to do my share of putting ideas out there based on observations of the current content (and what I know of it). Warning in advance, I tend to think from a TV production side of things as much if not more than based on talent that I'm a fan of (for the same reasons that I'm not allowed to pitch ideas).
As for any other commentary, there will probably be other rants. Anyone who knows me might ask, how could there not be? There's probably more than I will add to this and make it a thread down the road. There is also likely to be pictures involving food from local restaurants in this area as well as beverages. I do drink but almost always in moderation (or try to).
Regarding my being on disability. I've had respiratory and other issues since birth. They began getting worse in 2014. In addition to those issues, I have developed some other issues including vision impairment, hearing loss, and nerve damage in my back and legs which has led to balance issues that have led me to use a cane when I walk. I ended up on what was termed as permanent disability in 2017. Despite this, I'd still love to someday see the short film anthology project that I was working when my health worsened get finished.
And last though not least, arguably most important, I am a Christian. I'm not perfect though I aim to try and do my best while posting on this platform. I'm also Southern... and I'm just as liable to use the phrase "Bless Your Heart" in a serious manner as I am in the manner that many use it here in the South.
Hope that helps. Cheers.
Exactly. And if I were to guess, I'd say either fear, ignorance, or both due to media manipulation and the purposeful miseducation of at least two generations of natural born YS citizens.
@tuuu28283 A 1970s Pontiac that is largely not talked about for a few reasons. The main one being that its previous owner was my cousin who died the same day that I got my license.
@bullyray5150@NFComicCon I wish everyone in the business thought the same way that you do, Bully Ray. While I've tried every time that I've met someone in the business to be both polite and professional, it has sadly not been mutual.
I've been to Disneyworld a few times over the years, mostly to Epcot Center though I been to two of the other parks as well. Each time, it lost some of its allure. A major reason for that is how my opinion of Disney as a company has changed over the years.
That said, Disney used to be a respectable company. Today is a different story. Disney is not the company that it was 50, even 25, years ago in terms of being family friendly or even all ages appropriate. They claim to be but the truth is that they are not. As a corporation, they have damaged both their own intellectual properties a great deal as well as properties that they have been in the past 25 years like Star Wars, Marvel, and even the Muppets. Some of the damage has been intentional and in the name of certain political ideologies and such. Some of it has been a willful refusal to listen to their audience and even presume that they knew better than their audience in terms of their audience's own good.
And then there's the stuff you hear regarding certain "conspiracy theory" things with the parks and the company, several of which have bits of truth to them. I don't even want to go down that rabbit hole.
I see a certain something is trending about "pride" and would just like to note that the first "celebration of pride" happened in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. With that in mind, that is all I am saying on the topic as I don't think anything else needs to be said. Does it?
@himari_tsuki If I am being honest, no. I am not a fan of the horror genre in general. I've watched many though, particularly when I was younger, that I didn't care for and only sat through because they were popular. There have been very few that I've enjoyed and most were older ones.
I used to keep circling back to the same uncomfortable question:
does underlying mental illness predispose people toward becoming strong liberals?
Or does a certain strain of modern liberalism actively erode mental health?
Both possibilities feel equally unsettling, so I’ve mostly stopped asking.
Leftists will never accept that they've been been scammed over, and over, and over again.
They'll never accept that they're nothing but puppets. Useful idiots.
They'll never acknowledge that they are the reason that the things they claim to be against, exist at all.
They're in too deep. They've spent years being angry and violent toward others, cutting off their family, attacking friends, celebrating death, and pushing the most vile, inhuman, soulless ideas in modern history.
Facing the reality of what they've done is too much. So they'll take whatever explanation or justification they can get, no matter how little sense it makes.
Continuing to be violent, lawless, hateful, and angry is easier than looking in the mirror and admitting you've been the true fascist, racist, tyrannical, authoritarian, bigoted, white supremacist nazi the whole time.
