Admired as much in adulthood for his numerous philanthropic endeavours as he is adored for his sparkling charisma, rugged good looks and well-chosen glasses.
@StarWarsDaily_ No. The prequels aren't the best, but they're at least telling a good story with some logic behind it. The sequels are a mess. I still don't know what the story actually is.
@JohnSmi07791619@codenrl Yeah that's fair enough. A lot probably depends on the person asking the question. If they've got history of rubbish clickbait quote twisting, you can understand the answer I guess.
@LeagueScenePod I ditched Kayo this year so have been forced to listen to 9. Johns and Freddie are painful, but I honestly think Smith and Slater are good, and I find their comparative lack of referee decision nit picking quite refreshing.
@LeagueScenePod What's their take on the on-field referee rejecting the advice of the bunker? Seems a bit unconventional? Besides, if it warranted a send off, why is Ponga not suspended? All very fishy...
@NoHelmetsReq@England_RL@Irelandrl Absolutely! There are so many brilliant examples of RFL incompetence, but it's the obvious low hanging fruit like this that they just refuse to grab that is most telling.
@LeagueScenePod The NRL needs to start surveying fans along these lines too. I think they'd find very similar feedback. A philosophy has taken hold in the NRL admin and it needs to change.
@johnnyddavidson Terrible news all round. Says a lot for how well the Warriors are going that I don't think they'll miss him all that much. But sad way for his career out here to end, remembering he's also going to miss playing a World Cup with Samoa.
@1170sen@FrontOfficeSEN The unbelievable growth of the NRL is clear to see and he obviously deserves a lot of credit for that. But I also think they've gone too far with 'speeding the game up' and it's time for someone with a rugby league background to come in and stop it from going too far off track.
@BradWalterSport@woodward_curtis Brandy broke a bone in his foot whilst getting man of the match in Game 1. There's a full replay on YouTube. Watch it. One of the most dominant halfback performances of the era and a great comeback story too, all forgotten due to it being Super League.
@codenrl He's right about the inconsistency, but at the same time, I'd love if every game was refereed the way this game was. Turn the 6 agains down a little bit, let the game's momentum evolve naturally. The Raiders struggled for tries because their halves were poor in attack - that's it
@LeagueScenePod Ashley Klein is the worst, most pedantic referee in the game. It really worries me that the NRL keep appointing him to our biggest games! Clearly, his approach is what they want, which only proves how off base they are becoming with how the game should be played.
@ContinuousCall It's reached the farcical stage. It's made the game feel rigged. It's made tactics seem irrelevant. Players are being bludgeoned with the whistle and look so desperate, exhausted and exasperated. There is no need for all this. The game was great a few years ago.
@2GB873@marklevy2gb These technical, pedantic and unavoidable penalties are brutal on the players. They're exhausted and often doing their best to avoid them, but still the whistle goes. You can see the exasperation. It is not balanced or fair. No sport should be refereed this way.
@MickWallaceMail I really hope the NRL starts listening. It has gone too far and it is turning people off. All the tries might be bringing in casual fans to sing Sweet Caroline all day, but it won't last if they alienate the core fanbase to this extent.
@MikeMeehallWood The constant infringements are awful. Players are visibly doing their best to AVOID most of them but still getting pinged. Only about 20% of penalties come from actual infringements, as opposed to slight technical indiscretions. It's totally unbalanced. This is not a tax audit.
