I sometimes wonder if Big Tech has already built the One Ring.
The way people rely on #SaaS infrastructure for nearly every aspect of their lives makes me think about The Lord of the Rings.
Today I happened to watch it again, and it reminded me of something I've been thinking about for years.
In Tolkien's world, there was the One Ring. One Ring to rule them all.
When I look at today's digital world, I sometimes wonder if we're building our own version of it. Our files, our conversations, our memories, our businesses.
Increasingly, they all live inside a handful of platforms owned by a handful of companies.
Convenient? Absolutely. But convenience has a cost.
The more we depend on infrastructure we don't control, the harder it becomes to imagine life without it. That's what makes dependency so powerful. It becomes invisible.
You stop asking who owns the system, who benefits from your data, or whether there is another way.
Maybe that's why books like The Lord of the Rings, Dune, Foundation, and The Three-Body Problem stayed with me for decades.
They all explore the same question: What happens when power becomes too concentrated?
I don't know exactly what the future looks like. But I believe the next generation of digital infrastructure should give people more control over their data, not less.
That's why I care about #DataSovereignty as a question of freedom in this chaotic world of data-driven.
Curious: what's the one platform your business couldn't operate without tomorrow?
@Pirat_Nation Chrome silently installing 4 GB of Gemini Nano AI without asking?
You don’t own your computer if Google can push whatever they want onto it. Sovereign infrastructure = you control the stack. Full stop.
Vercel just got BRUTALLY BREACHED 💀
> Internal database + employee accounts + GitHub & NPM tokens are being sold for $2 MILLION on the dark web right now.
> Vercel’s response? A soft “limited subset of customers impacted.” Your entire workflow — now in the hands of strangers.
> That is why Drumee is built to be yours with data sovereignty to protect your data in one server.
> Don’t wait until your company’s data is listed for sale. Move to a sovereign stack today.
Your data. Your workflow. One system
