Today, I inaugurated the 4th Portland Cement Monitoring Committee (PCMC IV) at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry. I tasked the members with protecting the integrity of Ghana’s cement industry and ensuring strict compliance with industry standards.

The Committee, chaired by Mr. Noah Tumfo (Chief Director, MOTAI), includes the following members: Ms. Suweibatu Adams (MESTI), Mr. Benjamin Yeboah (GUTA), Ing. Clifford Frimpong (GSA), Rev. Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah (Cement Manufacturers), Mr. Emmanuel Ohene (GRA Customs), Ing. Stephen Ablormeti (GREDA), Mr. Frank Huber (GHACEM/AGI), and Ing. Stephen Ampiaw (GPHA).

I urged them to work diligently to protect the sector from substandard imports, cement smuggling, and practices that undermine local producers. Cement is the backbone of our infrastructure; schools, hospitals, roads, and homes all depend on it.

Together, let us build a stronger and more resilient industry for Ghana. We must safeguard this vital sector that underpins our country's infrastructure and development.

Today, I renewed the partnership between the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and TradeMark Africa through the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding.

I am pleased to have led efforts to resolve the recent dispute affecting onion traders between Ghana and Nigeria.

Following engagements with stakeholders from both countries, the suspension on onion exports to Ghana has been lifted, restoring the flow of onion supplies.
