Global ocean temperatures hit a record high for June, according to the latest Copernicus Climate Change Service & @CMEMS_EU data.
Over the past three years, oceans outside the polar regions have been 0.35–0.73°C warmer than average. El Niño pushed June to a new record.
In 2014, WMO asked weather presenters to imagine a report from the year 2050. A mere 12 years later, these possible scenarios grounded in climate science are already a reality in some parts of the world as we're seeing in Europe.
