Here is a bit of agricultural knowledge that quietly ends the whole plant-based planet idea.
Plant barley in Snowdonia. Soil the depth of a paperback laid over slate, on a thirty degree slope, under four metres of rain a year. The seed washes off before it roots. Put a Welsh Mountain sheep up there and she comes back down as lamb and fleece.
Plant wheat in the Cairngorms. Blanket peat, waterlogged, acid enough to pickle a tractor, frost still in the ground in June. Put a Highland cow on it and she stands out in the horizontal sleet with ten inches of hair over her eyes.
Plant anything on the Tibetan Plateau. Four and a half thousand metres, air too thin to work in, a growing season measured in weeks. Put a yak on it and you get milk, butter, meat, hair for the tent and fuel for the fire.
Plant potatoes in Finnmark. Frozen most of the year, and the top of it is lichen. Put a reindeer on it and she digs through the snow with her hoof.
Plant maize in the Sahel. Two hundred millimetres of rain in a good year, sand, thorn, forty degrees. Put a zebu on it and the herd walks three hundred miles to keep eating.
Plant vegetables in the Great Karoo. Dwarf grey shrub to the horizon, no river, ground cracked into plates. Put a Boer goat on it and she browses the bitter little bushes and fattens.
Plant a crop on the Brahmaputra floodplain. It is under four months of water. Put a water buffalo on it and she stands chest deep in the flood eating reeds, entirely content.
Plant wheat on the shortgrass prairie. They tried, and the topsoil went to Chicago in a black cloud in 1935. Put a bison on it and the roots go fifteen feet down and hold.
Around two thirds of the world's farmland is that sort of ground. Too steep, too cold, too dry, too wet, too thin, too high, too short of a season.
But do go on about how we could feed everyone on lentils if only the farmers would try a bit harder.
Take the animal off that land and it does not produce a vegetable. It produces nothing, quietly, forever.

Modern humans (Homo sapiens) emerged roughly 300,000 years ago during the Pleistocene, when CO₂ cycled between 180 and 300 ppm (recorded in ice cores).
Yet our broader ancestral tree traces back 25 million years to the warm Miocene, when Old World Monkeys and early hominids diverged in an atmosphere hovering around 400–500 ppm.
Today’s level of 426 ppm is not an unprecedented planetary ceiling; it's a return to an atmospheric baseline where complex primate life originally flourished. Human biology handles these levels effortlessly.
Commercial greenhouses regularly enrich air to 1,200 ppm to accelerate crop yields, while US Navy submarines maintain safety limits up to 5,000 ppm.
Furthermore, Earth’s biosphere is still recovering from glacial cycles so severe they carved out North America's Great Lakes. Geologically, we remain in an ice age, enjoying a warm holiday-style interglacial — the Holocene.
During the Last Glacial Maximum, CO₂ plunged to 190 ppm — perilously close to the 150 ppm threshold where many plants face photosynthetic shutdown.
CO₂ is not a pollutant and it's life-giving role in the biosphere has been cruelly exaggerated. It's the fundamental building block of the global food chain, and the historical data proves it's a catalyst for life, not a pollutant.
At 426 ppm, the planet has rebounded from that ecological bottleneck, evidenced by NASA satellites documenting a sustained global expansion of green foliage.
The world isn't choking; it's breathing a sigh of relief.

0.001% TAX
A junior auditor at @PwC in Luxembourg is getting ready to leave his job. Before he goes he goes looking for some training documents to take with him.
Instead he finds a folder that anyone in the company could open. No password. No warning. Just sitting there.
Inside are hundreds of secret deals between the Luxembourg government and some of the biggest companies on the planet. Deals that let them pay next to nothing in tax.
His name is Antoine Deltour. He copies 30,000 pages. That is the whole story. He copies a folder.
Let me explain what was actually in it, because this is where it gets interesting.
Between 2002 and 2010, PwC alone helped broker 548 of these secret tax agreements, known as tax rulings, for over 340 companies. Apple. Ikea. Pepsi. Disney. Deutsche Bank. AIG. Koch Industries. Skype. GlaxoSmithKline. Coach. Abbott Laboratories. Household names, every one of them.
The trick was simple. Companies moved profits through Luxembourg shell structures and Luxembourg quietly agreed in writing to look the other way on tax.
Some of these companies ended up paying an effective tax rate under 1 percent. In some cases as low as 0.001 percent. On billions of dollars.
Who was running Luxembourg for almost 20 years while this machine was built and protected? Jean-Claude Juncker, Prime Minister of Luxembourg until 2013.
Deltour did not leak straight to the world. In 2012 he passed the documents to French journalist Edouard Perrin, who used them for a TV documentary.
PwC noticed and filed a complaint with the Luxembourg courts. Then in November 2014, ICIJ @ICIJorg pulled together over 80 journalists across more than 30 media outlets in 26 countries and published the full scale of it as LuxLeaks.
The timing could not have been worse for Juncker, or depending how you look at it, could not have been better. He had just been elected President of the European Commission days before the story broke. The man who ran the tax haven for two decades was now running Europe.
A month later ICIJ dropped LuxLeaks 2, showing the other Big 4 accounting firms Deloitte, EY and KPMG were running the exact same playbook. This was never one bad apple. It was standard practice.
Juncker faced a no confidence vote in the European Parliament over it. He survived. Deltour was not so lucky.
December 2014, Luxembourg charges him with theft, violation of trade secrecy and fraudulent access to a computer system. He is facing up to 5 years in prison and a fine of 1,250,000 euros. For opening an unlocked folder on his way out the door.
April 2016, the criminal trial. Deltour and his colleague Raphael Halet, another former PwC employee who leaked a second batch of documents, are both convicted. Deltour gets 12 months suspended and a 1,500 euro fine. Perrin the journalist is acquitted.
Deltour appeals. Loses. Appeals again. Finally in May 2018 the Luxembourg Court of Appeal fully recognises him as a genuine whistleblower under European Court of Human Rights standards and acquits him completely.
Halet's fight took even longer. He lost his Luxembourg appeals and only won at the European Court of Human Rights Grand Chamber in 2023, nearly a decade after he first spoke up.
The European Commission that Juncker went on to lead never opened a single formal investigation into a single LuxLeaks tax ruling. Not one. It did chase Starbucks, Fiat and Amazon over separate deals, but the mountain of paperwork Deltour handed over sat there untouched.
So that is the LuxLeaks story. Build a tax avoidance machine for 20 years and get promoted to run the continent. Copy the evidence of it and spend most of a decade fighting to stay out of prison.

Oekraïne, waarom de oorlog is gestart !
Voor iedereen die geen idee heeft hoe het conflict in Oekraïne is begonnen, volgt hier een korte geschiedenisles:
1989 - 1991
Rusland stemt in met de afschaffing van de demarcatielijn tussen Oost- en West-Duitsland en ontbindt het "Warschau-Pact", trekt zijn troepen terug uit Oost-Europa en vertrouwt op de mondelinge toezegging van Hans-Dietrich Genscher (voormalig vice-kanselier van de Bondsrepubliek Duitsland) en James Baker (voormalig minister van Buitenlandse Zaken van de VS) in februari 1990 dat de voormalige leden van het "Warschau-Pact" niet tot de NAVO zullen toetreden, en dat er dus GEEN oostelijke uitbreiding van de NAVO zal plaatsvinden.
De Amerikaanse troepen blijven in Duitsland gestationeerd.
2001
Putin doet het Westen in de Duitse Bondsdag (in vloeiend Duits) een aanbod voor een nauw partnerschap om de verdeeldheid uit het verleden te overwinnen.

De Amerikaan verbiedt dat.
Met Wit-Rusland, Oekraïne en de drie Baltische staten is er een buffer tussen de NAVO en Rusland.

De Baltische staten worden lid van de NAVO.
Een eerste schending van de bufferzone.
De Rus blijft kalm.
Tegen 2004 zijn dan bijna alle leden van het "Warschau-pact" tot de NAVO toegetreden.

Het Westen zet de Rusland-vriendelijke regering van Oekraïne af en installeert een VS-vriendelijke regering.
(Wat inmiddels zelfs door de Amerikanen is toegegeven.)
Op hetzelfde moment beginnen de VS, met voorop Hunter Biden (de zoon van de bejaarde en half seniele Amerikaanse president "Joe Biden"), Monsanto, Black Water en Amerikaanse militaire adviseurs, Oekraïne te infiltreren en een NAVO-lidmaatschap in het vooruitzicht te stellen.
Tegelijkertijd stapt Hunter Biden in de Oekraïense gasindustrie.
De tweede schending van de bufferzone vond plaats.
De Russen blijven kalm.
2014
Onder druk van de staatsgreep door de Amerikanen (de Russen hadden hun gehele Zwarte Zeevloot in Sevastopol op de Krim gestationeerd) vond er een vreedzame bezetting van de Krim plaats.
In tegenstelling tot alle andere beschrijvingen werd er geen enkel schot gelost, niemand werd gedood.
Behalve een paar Krim-Tataren is tot op de dag van vandaag 90 procent van de inwoners van de Krim het eens geweest met deze aanpak.
2014 - 2022
Oekraïne beschiet met de Vrije Azov-brigades (aanhangers van het hakenkruis) consequent Loehansk en Donetsk.
Veel Russen komen om, waaronder ook Russische kinderen.
Oekraïne keert sinds 2014 geen pensioenen meer uit in deze gebieden.
De geldkraan wordt dichtgedraaid.
De voedselvoorziening van deze gebieden wordt uitsluitend door Rusland verzorgd.
Hierover wordt in de Duitse media met geen woord gerept.
2020
Naar het voorbeeld van 2014 in Oekraïne probeert het Westen nu ook in Wit-Rusland de regering omver te werpen, wat mislukt, maar het was de derde aanval op de bufferzone tussen de NAVO en Rusland.
De Rus blijft kalm.
2022
Poetin eist voor de laatste keer een garantie dat Oekraïne geen lid van de NAVO wordt en dat Donetsk en Loehansk zich grotendeels zelf mogen besturen op het grondgebied van Oekraïne.
Dit wordt door de VS afgewezen.

De Rus valt Oekraïne binnen.
Om de oorlog te beëindigen eist Poetin
- een garantie van neutraliteit en
- een demilitarisering van Oekraïne,
- een erkenning van Donetsk en Loehansk als volksrepublieken
- een erkenning van de Krim als Russisch grondgebied en
- een denazificatie van Oekraïne
Dit wordt door de VS afgewezen.
Dit zou iedereen die gedachteloos de leugens of halve waarheden van de Nederlandse, Europese en Amerikaanse media napraat, eens aan het denken moeten zetten.

Trattasi di delirio eccitato, condizione a elevatissimo rischio di arresto cardiaco per tono iperadrenergico, ridotto ritorno venoso e verosimile assunzione di cocaina o eccitanti, soprattutto in situazione di necessaria pronazione per ovvie ragioni di sicurezza
Assunto: il delirio eccitato non è minimamente contattabile con le parole, non si può parlare con un soggetto in delirio eccitato perché clinicamente non esiste più nessun barlume di ragione in lui: solo violenza e infinita aggressività gratuita. Si può solo sedare per proteggere noi, lui e le persone, prima che la situazione evolva verso condizioni irreparabili.
Ci sono precise procedure alle quali ognuno si noi si attiene ed è giusto che le persone sappiano le cose
Il soggetto deve essere pronato dalla polizia..questa è la situazione sine qua non per poter agire in sicurezza. Una persona sdraiata sulla schiena è ingestibile.

Sedare un 100 kg eccitato senza parametri con i farmaci che abbiamo che hanno un indice terapeutico basso e sono molto pericolosi è una procedura a priori estremamente rischiosa ma è l'unica cosa che si può fare.
La prima cosa che facciamo in una situazione simile è sedare velocemente il soggetto e ci sono due modi:
1 Se la polizia riesce a tenere perfettamente immobile una mano (difficoltà immensa) si mette una cannula in una vena del braccio, o della mano e si somministrano 0.05-0.1 mg kg di midazolam a bolo. Tempo di effetto: 30 secondi. Spesso non ha effetto. Si ripete il dosaggio fino a 2 volte.
2 Se proprio è impossibile trovare la vena, ketamina 2-4 fiale in muscolo o midazolam 10-15 mg in muscolo, la prima più efficace ma più pericolosa per un raro rischio aritmico in questa circostanza, il secondo molto meno efficace in muscolo e molto più lento.
Io preferisco farmi immobilizzare il soggetto, tenere l'infermiera lontana per evitare quello che già mi è successo ovvero naso rotto e due costole rotte (ma ovviamente a nessuno importa di noi), e rapidamente mettere l'accesso venoso, è difficile ma se sei bravo riesci.
Mi sono punto un paio di volte ma diciamo che a nessuno interessa di noi, si sa. Rischi del mestiere, HIV, HCVi.
Una volta ottenuta la sedazione, (cosa per nulla scontata perché se il soggetto è pieno di cocaina potrei anche non arrivare a sedarlo con tutte le fiale a disposizione o arrivare a sedarlo provocandone un arresto respiratorio improvviso con rapidissima desaturazione a rischio arresto), immediatamente senza aspettare un secondo supinare il soggetto, mettersi alla testa, appoggiare reservoir o ambu con 15 litri di ossigeno e velocissimamente ottenere i parametri vitali pronti a ventilare o intubare al volo, con rischi enormi e concreti di non riuscirci perché in una situazione di cattività estrema (visione limitata, strada, luce, monitor che non legge, vena che si è persa). Potrebbe diventare la situazione di un aereo che sta precipitando e tu non hai neanche più il radar. E sta precipitando perché è fallato non per colpa tua, anche se sai già che tutti diranno che è colpa tua

L’intervento a gamba tesa del PdR sulla norma che reintegra i medici illegittimamente e vergognosamente radiati per aver rispettato il giuramento di Ippocrate e salvato le vite dei loro pazienti, è la plateale dimostrazione del totale fallimento delle nostre istituzioni democratiche. La Carta costituzionale è violata e vilipesa proprio da chi dovrebbe tutelarla. Le multinazionali del farmaco dirigono la nostra politica sanitaria e bloccano l’attività della magistratura, oltre che del governo. Siamo un Paese finito, in cui la Repubblica democratica basata sulla sovranità popolare è stata spodestata da un golpe silenzioso e letale posto in essere da poteri finanziari esteri che spengono sul nascere ogni tentativo di giustizia, libertà, affermazione della dignità umana.
Chi ancora non l’ha capito deve soltanto aprire gli occhi.
