Many junior doctors, while choosing Psychiatry as a specialty, are concerned that they may get depressed by working in mental health.

This study compared 20 different specialities & Psychiatry was at number 9.

Urology, emergency medicine & family medicine are at the top with the highest rate of depression.

Ophthalmology had the lowest rate of depression.

In reality, working in healthcare with overstretched resources and pressure to perform at the highest standards puts us all at risk, and psychiatry isn't unique in this.

@proud_penelope Undoubtedly it has evolved, but all psychoanalytic thought still stems from the same unproven and unprovable principles (not to mention that some theories, however fascinating, are, to say the least, bizarre, if not even hardly reasonable, as compared to other psy orientations)

@joannamoncrieff Such bad taste in instrumentalizing the death of someone. Also, he had coronary artery disease, took buprenorphine and (supposedly) benzos, very relevant so-called “contributing” factors. Lastly, the ketamine he took before his tragic death wasn’t the one from medical infusions
