@SFGiants I'm a life-long Giants fan exiled to the east coast. Yesterday, the Giants beat the Dodgers at both 12:19am and 11:51pm ET.
Yesterday was my birthday. Give my thanks to the team for the two-fer presents ๐งก๐ค
@MeTheCookieLady@tobiasgcool@smirchfa@laurenancona It is sort of unfortunate that on a thread about minimizing a guy's emotions you're here minimizing ANOTHER guy's emotions by assuming he is whining on the Internet instead of talking to his wife, when he's actually just sharing a char-count-limited story of similar dismissal...
@MeTheCookieLady@tobiasgcool@smirchfa@laurenancona In addition to the hostile contribution, you are also assuming a lot. He said what happened and its long term emotional result, the two things that are relevant to the conversation You're running away with the idea that no additional talks took place, but we don't know that.
@Phant0mTM@GuudGuyGreg@Yoboiknux05@The2ndOpinion11@esjesjesj Happy to concede that I didn't know that (I'm not actually a Batmanologist, obviously), but I feel like that fact actually *strengthens* my point that a claim of "misrepresenting Batman" is almost always going to be kind of silly.
@GuudGuyGreg@Yoboiknux05@The2ndOpinion11@esjesjesj Batman is a character that has been around for nearly a century, written and characterized hundreds of different ways. Think of Batman canon like the bible, you can find just about any tone you want because it's super (hehe) inconsistent.
@clhubes@BichonSnuggles I actually looked into this a couple days ago when someone was complaining about the name on a Reddit post. It's been used as a name for people for at least a couple hundred years, but it might've started picking up its recent trendiness with the movie Little Miss Sunshine in '06
@jsparkblog I'm not gonna say it's IMPOSSIBLE for this to be justified if there was something out of the ordinary happening- unexpected illness, power went out, someone put speed in the kids' milk, or whatever, i guess (I don't have kids)
but assuming business as usual? Nah, total BS.
@clhubes Once I was school age I remember if I stayed home sick I wasn't allowed to watch TV until after school hours. But I was a particularly voracious and early reader so I could still keep myself busy pretty well :/
For a couple of cycles the TX Republican Party's official platform documents explicitly opposed the teaching of critical thinking skills in schools. (2010-2012 I believe.) The stated reason was that these skills were only taught to encourage kids to question their parents' faith.
@EliMcCann I can relate to this. My loving and wonderful husband often wants to cook for me but over the years he has come to understand that some nights just cry for takeout and I must answer the call.
right now my greatest hope for the world is that kodocha's ULTRA RELAX opening will become a roto/re-animation trend and everyone will doodle their Frierens and DunMeshis and whatever doing the lil goofy dance
