Azhar, it’s about time we called a spade a spade instead of conveniently dismissing everything as historical disagreements.
If you cannot distinguish between legitimate differences of opinion and the deliberate humiliation of revolutionary leaders, then perhaps you should refrain from lecturing others about tolerance or respect.
Let me make one thing absolutely clear:
nobody has sidelined the suffering of our people or the lives being lost today.
Many have gone above and beyond to support those affected on the ground without seeking your recognition, publicity or validation from anyone.
Our contributions do not need to be advertised on Twitter to prove the commitment.
But while you rightly express concern for the hundred or so lives reportedly lost, how can you expect people to remain silent when the sacrifices of thousands who gave their lives for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir are ridiculed, insulted and deliberately undermined?
There is a fundamental difference between constructive criticism and the systematic character assassination of revolutionary figures such as Maqbool Bhat Shaheed and Amanullah Khan, who dedicated their lives to the cause of an independent Jammu and Kashmir.
They are no longer here to defend themselves, but they left behind a revolutionary legacy that continues to inspire generations.
Those who have contributed little or nothing to the freedom struggle, including the present rights movement, have no moral authority to casually ridicule the sacrifices of those who devoted their entire lives to this cause.
Azhar, neutrality in the face of differing political opinions is one thing, but using neutrality to excuse hypocrisy, deliberate provocation and the continuous smearing of revolutionary legacies is something entirely different.
Respect must work both ways. L
You cannot demand civility from those defending their ideological heritage while remaining silent about those who repeatedly insult & degrade it.

There is a distinction between a movement demanding rights within an existing political arrangement and a revolutionary struggle seeking national liberation.
Both may involve genuine suffering and legitimate grievances, but they are not politically or historically interchangeable.
Our commitment to the cause of independence was not born yesterday, nor does it begin and end with the current rights movement.
It is a legacy carried forward through generations, sustained by immense sacrifices and paid for with the blood of countless martyrs.
We owe those martyrs a debt that cannot be repaid through convenient statements about tolerance while their sacrifices are being openly disrespected.

We can compromise on political differences, strategies and personal opinions, but we will never compromise on the dignity of our martyrs or the revolutionary legacy they entrusted to us.
We may leave everything behind, but we will never abandon the legacy of Maqbool Bhat, Amanullah Khan and the countless martyrs who gave their lives for an independent Jammu and Kashmir.
Defending that legacy is not hostility. It is loyalty to a cause that existed long before today's arguments on social media and will continue long after them.

JKLF Condemns Killing of Four Kashmiri Youths in Poonch Landmine Blast as ‘State Terrorism’ and War Crime

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Central Spokesperson Shakeel Jarral has strongly condemned the deaths of four Kashmiri youths, Faizan Saghir, Ishtiaq, Waqas and Asim, in a landmine explosion near the Ceasefire Line (Line of Control) in the Poonch sector. He described the incident as organised state terrorism and a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
According to local residents and the families, the four men were at a water spring when the explosion occurred. JKLF and family accounts state that the youths were unarmed civilians engaged in routine work and were deliberately targeted. Indian media reports have portrayed the incident as the foiling of an infiltration attempt, a claim JKLF has rejected as propaganda.
Shakeel Jarral said Jammu Kashmir remains an indivisible historical and political entity forcibly divided since 1947. He described the Ceasefire Line as “a line of coercion and oppression drawn over our bodies,” noting that people on both sides have paid the price of this division for 78 years.
He accused occupation forces of planting large numbers of landmines on both sides of the line, calling them a weapon used to terrorise civilians, restrict movement, and destroy livelihoods rather than a legitimate military measure. He specifically noted that Sardar Faizan Saghir had been active in a peaceful campaign against these landmines and improvised explosive devices, and said the forces targeted him to silence his voice.
Jarral condemned what he called a “malicious campaign” by sections of the Indian media to brand the dead as infiltrators. “Killing innocent civilians and then branding them as terrorists and infiltrators is the standard operating procedure of the occupation forces,” he said.
The spokesperson described the use of landmines and IEDs in civilian areas as a flagrant violation of Article 3 and Article 27 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, as well as the 1997 Ottawa Treaty (Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention). He stated that targeting unarmed civilians with landmines constitutes a war crime under international humanitarian law.
He further said that communities living along the Ceasefire Line face a “living hell”: agricultural land has become unusable, livestock are regularly killed, and children are killed or permanently disabled while playing. He characterised this as a deliberate policy aimed at displacing people from their ancestral land.
JKLF demands
On behalf of the organisation, Jarral put forward three clear demands:
1. The United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) and the UN Human Rights Council should immediately take notice of the incident, conduct a comprehensive survey of landmines along the Ceasefire Line, and compel both sides to clear them.
2. Both India and Pakistan should fulfil their pledges before the UN Security Council and undertake a complete and unconditional withdrawal of their forces from the State of Jammu Kashmir.
3. The international community, the UN Security Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and international media should recognise that the issue is not a border dispute between two countries but the national freedom struggle of 25 million Kashmiri people. The only peaceful and permanent solution, he said, is for the people of Jammu Kashmir to exercise their right to establish a free, independent and sovereign state.
Shakeel Jarral expressed condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families and reaffirmed that JKLF would continue its peaceful political and diplomatic struggle until the establishment of a free, sovereign and undivided Jammu Kashmir.

Central Spokesperson of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, Shakeel Jarral, has expressed profound grief and outrage over the tragic martyrdom of four innocent, unarmed Kashmiri youths in a landmine explosion laid by occupation forces on the Ceasefire Line in Poonch Sector. He termed it an act of organised state terrorism and a heinous crime against humanity.

According to local residents and the families of the martyrs, the youths were deliberately targeted by the occupation forces at a water spring and killed in a planned explosion. This is an act of the worst barbarism and state terrorism that must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

Shakeel Jarral stated that Jammu Kashmir is an indivisible, historical and political entity that has been forcibly divided since 1947 by two occupying powers. They drew a bloody line in the name of the Ceasefire Line and divided our motherland into two parts. This is not an international border, but a line of coercion and oppression drawn over our bodies. For the last 78 years, the Kashmiri people living on both sides of this bloody line have been paying the price of this forced division and military occupation with their blood.

He said occupation forces have planted hundreds of thousands of deadly landmines on both sides of the Ceasefire Line. These mines are not a military strategy; they are a weapon of war to terrorise the Kashmiri people, to restrict their movement, and to destroy their livelihoods and economy.

The JKLF Spokesperson strongly condemned the malicious campaign by sections of the Indian media attempting to brand the martyrdom of these innocent civilians as an "infiltration attempt". He said this pack of lies, deceit and inhuman propaganda is condemnable. Killing innocent civilians and then branding them as terrorists and infiltrators is the standard operating procedure of the occupation forces.

He added that Sardar Faizan Saghir had been at the forefront of a peaceful campaign against these killer, inhuman IEDs and landmines laid on the Ceasefire Line, raising his voice for the thousands of people whose lives have been made miserable by them. The occupation forces targeted him to silence his voice.

The Spokesperson further stated that the indiscriminate use of landmines and IEDs in the divided State of Jammu Kashmir is a flagrant violation of international law.

These inhuman weapons are in open violation of *Article 3 and Article 27 of the Fourth Geneva Convention*, which guarantees the protection of civilian populations in occupied territories. It is also a blatant violation of the *Ottawa Treaty 1997 (Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention)* which prohibits the use of landmines in civilian-populated areas. Under international humanitarian law, targeting unarmed civilians with landmines constitutes a *War Crime.*

The occupation forces have made the life of the people living on the Ceasefire Line a living hell. Their agricultural lands have become barren and unusable, their livestock are killed by these mines on a daily basis, their children are martyred or permanently disabled while playing, and the shadow of death looms over their pastures and water springs. These are not accidents. This is a deliberate and calculated policy of the occupiers to displace Kashmiris from their own ancestral land and force them to live in perpetual fear.

On this occasion, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front puts forward its clear and unequivocal demands:

He and his cousin were fatally targeted by Indian landmines close to their residence. Thousands of local residents attended the prayers. The deceased were laid to rest with party and state flags.
