@HerrHollis @gianfrancocont9 We are going beyond the spec too I think, but do your SBs definitely cover everything from the spec? And I think our KS3 vocab goes way beyond what they need for the new spec (a good thing I think). Thanks for sharing - I'd call that 2 SBs tho, not one! And KS3 is just 12 SBs?

@HerrHollis @gianfrancocont9 Did you manage just 18 SBs in the end? I would be curious to see as well just one sequence of 5 lessons. Find we are relying on the textbook to assume vocab coverage. It looks very neat to have it divided into just 18 SBs...I wouldn't know where to start...

@madamelanguages No. We are allowed three days off and go Thurs -mon. So still my weekend, plus setting cover. Add up how many separate days drama get for theatre trips for different yr groups for example.

@thefish64 Didn't know you were local......there's only our place, the Dover grammars and the Canterbury grammars that do German in east Kent I think. Faversham too. None of the non-selectives. Next step - a higher group in y12 next year! You dont fancy a temp job do you?

Also: those that do it do it gratis almost all the time. It's often a weekend or holiday. and even if not it's evenings and nights. And they don't get paid any more at all for those hours. There's no toil. Typically next day, they're back in.

@spanishsam Sorry - one more thing. If you are considering a tutor go for maths - there used to be stuff on the maths that year 5 wouldn't usually cover (ie y6 stuff!)so you could get ahead there. And in Kent the kids sit the paper in the first two weeks or so of y6

@spanishsam @RussSauntry We were suspicious of dyslexia and he did have an English tutor which turned into 11+ practice a bit. Thank goodness tho. Now y13 and sitting A-levels with an offer from Oxford!.eeek..so 11+ practice is worth it. Good luck 🤞 no tutor for child 2. Just bofa.

@spanishsam @RussSauntry Only discovered it with child 2. Child 1 ended up head teacher appeal I think? Turns out he is dyslexic - picked up at grammar school - verbal score wasn't great. His story pulled him through we think - only read if needed for the appeal (in Kent anyway I think).
