My son's birthday is always a day of celebration. With my son, I saw the world with different eyes. I learned life is more than just my life. Life is to care for others and feel happy because we have a purpose. The Purpose of a healthy future. #birthday#life#Future#together
The NYPD is using “Barnacles” to combat illegal parking.
They are commercial-grade suction cups that latch onto the glass with 1,000 pounds of force, making forcible removal next to impossible.
The report calls for immediate steps by provincial governments to phase out the use of private-for-profit nursing agencies in public health facilities.
Some provinces, like Manitoba, are also trying to take the "profit" out of the nursing supply system by creating their own agencies, to supply nurses to remote clinics and hospitals.
Solutions are needed says the report, because 'renting nurses from private companies' is far more costly than finding ways to keep them on staff.
"We're going to go broke, we're going to lose our public health care if we continue that way," said Linda Silas

Private nursing agencies aren't fixing our health system with it's staffing shortages says @CFNUPresident "It's not working. Look how many emergency rooms have been closed in the last six months, and our level of agency nursing is higher than we've ever been."
Nurses left our public system - driven out by exhaustion, frustration, and the lure of higher pay and more choice in shifts. The report shows pay ranges from $39 to $300 an hour with perks like, cell phones, gift cards, and signing bonuses. Agencies, according to the report, collect 25-35% in service fees.

So now, instead of having well paid nurses on public payroll, we have well-paid nurses, with low job security, working for the profit sector. These private agencies cost the province tens of millions of dollars more in healthcare costs. Ford bashing the unions was dumb and costly
The runaway cost of nursing agencies, a stunning example of messed-up, expensive policy. In the words of @QueensUHealth Dr Joan Almost “Think about what could be done with $1.5 B. It could be used to provide better care. It could be used to retain nurses.” https://t.co/7VpYPgo0gv
Canada's taxpayer funded health system paid an estimated $1.5 billion dollars (in a one year period) to private agencies - for #nurses.
A new report confirms nursing care is becoming a
profit making tool for 472 companies.
That taxpayer money "could be used to provide better care.. retain nurses,” says author Joan Almost @QueensUHealth #nurses 1/3

The Ford government illegally suppressed nurses’ wages during a pandemic, then spent even more money re-hiring nurses at a higher cost using private agencies, diverting tax dollars from front-line patient care into the pockets of corporate shareholders #onpoli#ONhealth
