Very true! Grateful that in my final year of undergrad one of my professors included a group assignment (writing a paper on the 2019 Fed election) specifically because she wanted us to learn to collaborate with our colleagues in academia!

do you know what's worse than waking up when it's -20 degrees outside, super dark and depressing? waking up when it's -20 degrees, super dark, depressing and some man is using a leaf blower at 4:00am...what the heck is with calgary and these god forsaken leaf blowers???!??!?!

Yup. I am so, so sick of this. The amount of times I have been at a grad student event when the phrase "well grad students love a free meal!" is said in some form. It isn't cute that free meals are the only ways in which some grad students can feed themselves. We deserve better.

as a grad student at ucla, i have to work part time serving pizza to pay for my living expenses.

it’s time we stop normalizing (and even romanticizing) the lack of livable wages for graduate students. we shouldn’t have to work part time jobs just to survive.
