I found it interesting that the NMC Horizon Report lists Digital Literacy as a significant challenge for the future...My students are already talking about digital literacy at 10, they won't have trouble in college with that. Also LMS's MUST improve user interface. #EDU6323
@EPerry72351815 @BrianK34074880 What I find interesting is that people don't generally understand who are millennials and who are not. Emma, you and I don't teach millenials, I am a millennial (born 83-96). I find it funny we study millennials so much but they're all through the ed system already! #edu6323
I got goosebumps from that Wesch video! As teachers it's important to try and understand that all students have something else going on and it that its not just our teaching effecting them. I would have loved to have him as a professor but I was always a sleeper.....#EDU6323
In the art room I use an approach called VTS (visual thinking strategies) where I present an image (art) and I don't prompt the conversation at all but that can be really nerve racking for some students to participate in so I use digital polling to anonymously share ideas#edu6323
@LoebAnnie@Mc94Molly That game got a ton of bad press about kids being on their phones even more and getting hurt or lost. But I was on vacation in ME just after it launched and I saw whole young families out together hunting for pokemon. If I were a dad, thats what we would be doing! #edu6323
@Evelyn05891014 I haven't seen much black mirror but it did remind me of the movie "Gamer" with Gerard Butler. A Movie that I think the title and trailer made it seem like a dumb action film when it's actually a terrifying look at VR. #edu6323
@bwatwood@Evelyn05891014 I tried to watch it and didn't like it! I was hoping it would be some modern version of The Twilight Zone....but nothing will ever replace The Twilight Zone. #edu6323
I captured this clip from Kelly's talk that I found fascinating and I can clearly remember when these transactions started happening. when you're living through it sometimes it happens slowly but when you reflect you're suddenly like, how are my photos on all my devices? #edu6323
Next week I'm attending the NAEA Annual Convention and one of the keynote speakers is Amy Sherald and I wanted to curate some articles about her. This was interesting because as an artist, the sources are far more visual in nature. #edu6323
Augmented Reality has been used in art education as a way to expand art shows. By using a few phones apps participants can make the art move, change, and even show information about the artists, how they made it, or link to a video! #edu6323
@Lenworth_22@ManyDerrick@bwatwood I couldn't agree more! I use apple music and its so helpful for finding music to play during class. I usually listen to an instrumental cover band, piano dreamers. They have a new album every month of new pop songs & the kids love it. But that alone would be $10 a month #EDU6323
@syanwar6 I also used pinterest, but I actually found it difficult to find articles and such based on images. I found that there was the same image repeated but they linked to different articles or different pages on my person webpage. #ed6323
@MasiaNeu I hadn't noticed that! Originally that was designed to ease the consumer into understanding their new PC. Now I think kids are being raised in a digital world were they don't need those associations, they may never come in contact with a physical folder! #edu6323
