Let's take a look at this claim as "revealed" by the Daily Mail.
TLDR - It's taken them a reeeeeally long time to "reveal" this law 😜
So what's the reality behind this headline?

I was the first person to reply to correct him - this was a Thatcher introduced law!
So he blocked me, hid all replies calling him out AND retweeted it himself🙄🙄🙄
Thanks to Labour, Brits living abroad can no longer donate more than £100k to political parties. Boo! Thankfully, my billionaire chum, Chris Harborne (who provided two thirds of all Reform funding) has got round this by registering on the electoral roll using his Hampshire farmhouse. So now this Thai based billionaire, also known as Chakrit Sakunkrit, who has Thai citizenship and still lives in Thailand, having lived there for about thirty years, is now an upstanding UK resident and free to influence UK politics.
Now that’s what I call patriotism.
@RichardGCorbett It's perfectly democratic to respect the result of a vote and then do everything in your power to overturn that result.
After Labour won the 1997 General Election, the Tories didn't say "we'll give up neoliberalism and a commitment to privatisation to respect the result."
There was never any reason to respect the Brexit result of 2016.
The result was gained by lies from con-men such as Farage Johnson, Gove and others, and lies in the mainstream media.
So the Johnson general election of Dec 2019 was won with these same blatant lies.
Neither result should have stood.
@RichardGCorbett And then there’s the reports that Russian interference and money must be considered to have rendered the non-binding vote not free and fair . A very odd democracy which has to “respect” a vote which was neither binding nor valid …
@MutwiriMutuota I've no skin in this game but the defender initiated the contact by attempting a tackle from behind and did not get near the ball. The first contact was on the back of the attacker's thigh, a clear penalty.

Mason & Kuenssberg are paid 3 times the salary of the Prime Minister, they are undermining UK democracy, they are paid by us, the license fee payers, servants of the public, not Murdoch, not @CONServative HQ, not #DodgyDeformLtd, the public, the public they show such contempt for
The catastrophic reality of Brexit has exposed the entire project as a historical scam pushed by charlatans and traitors, on behalf of Moscow.
It has directly undermined European security and weakened the West to the absolute delight of Moscow, Beijing, and Washington DC.
The separation of the United Kingdom from the European continent has made both entities far more vulnerable to external threats. At a time when global stability requires absolute cohesion, this decision introduced needless fragmentation.
The geopolitical rewards of this blunder flow straight to Washington DC, Beijing, and Moscow. Russia and China look at a fractured Europe and see a continent that is much easier to manipulate, exploit, and destabilize because one of its strongest powers is isolated from its neighbors. The US sees the same, especially under Trump.
Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage will forever carry this betrayal as their core legacy. The United Kingdom must eventually rejoin the European Union to reclaim its economic sanity and strategic defense, a move that is becoming increasingly obvious to everyone
What the BBC did. They played clips of Trump out of chronological order. He complained. They apologised. That should have been it. But he sued them for $10 billion.
So the BBC is going to fully litigate all of Trump's actions surrounding the attack on the Capitol.
Excellent.
Always wondered what made Johnson - who had blamed Putin's invasion of 2014 on the EU, and with all his Russian contacts - turn around and support Ukraine in 2022
Looks like there was dosh involved. Quelle surprise
