America's national debt just surpassed our GDP for the first time since World War II. And DC politicians did it by handing out tax cuts to billionaires while telling working families to figure it out.
I've had enough. Have you?

I’ll be on CNN at 6:00 AM EDT, MSNOW at 7:40 AM EDT and PBS Newshour at 6:00 PM EDT today talking about Pope Leo XIV’s newest encyclical that’ll confront Silicon Valley about the proper role of AI in safeguarding human dignity.
Here’s what’s at stake. https://t.co/0MNnkepKQx
Trump is now reportedly responsible for roughly 27.7% of the entire U.S. national debt accumulated under all presidents combined.
That is an astonishing figure historically.
The national debt just crossed $39 trillion.
President Trump has added roughly $12–13 trillion to the debt across his two terms in office.
That’s approximately 30% of ALL U.S. national debt accumulated since 1789.
In 2016, Trump said he would pay down the national debt “over a period of eight years.”
Instead:
- First term: +$7.8 trillion
- Second term: roughly +$4–5 trillion already
And yes, COVID affected first-term spending.
It does not explain adding another trillion dollars every five months without a pandemic.
A political movement built on:
“fiscal conservatism”
“small government”
“balanced budgets”
has now overseen the largest debt expansion tied to any single presidency in American history.
Good morning.
The President of the United States is currently looting the treasury. He’s just taking your money for his own purposes. Billions of it.
And Republicans won’t do anything because their loyalty isn’t to you, it’s to him.
NEW: The cost of President Trump's plan to repair the Reflecting Pool has jumped by 88 percent, to $13.1M, gov't records show.
The price appears to include a 20 percent profit margin for Trump's handpicked contractor, who got the job in a no-bid contract.

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.
The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.
Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.
The list goes on and on.
Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.
Practical assistance offered to the disadvantaged allows them to experience God’s love, and opens a path for them to enter into a lasting relationship with God. At the same time, it enables us to come into contact with the flesh of Christ by seeking to see and serve Him in our brothers and sisters (cf. Mt 25:31-46). In this way, our works of charity become a mutual encounter with the Lord who is present among us.
"We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both." –Justice Louis Brandeis
Words spoken many years ago that are just as relevant today.
We must continue the fight to get big money out of politics.
Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.
The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.
“Vance’s attempt to take on Leo by going after the pope’s, shall we say, area of expertise only showcases what Pope Gregory the Great called 'the queen of all vices,' the deadly sin of pride,” @RadioFreeTom writes: https://t.co/qEwnzA9F2V
Donald Trump got elected because he made the public very real and specific promises. And now one by one, he's broken every single one. Cost, corruption, and chaos are all the American people have received for their vote.

In 2000, the average pound of ground beef cost 29% of the minimum wage.
Today it’s 110%. This is what people mean when they say this economy isn’t working.
We need to raise the minimum wage and break up meat packing monopolies.
Trump hasn’t delivered on his promises to working Americans.
In his 1st year, the gap in spending growth between the wealthy, middle class & poor has widened, and income growth for the rich has surpassed everyone else by the largest margin since 2015.
