“wait…wat does that even mean?”
it means a full Ethereum block, not a summary or approximation, can now be proven with zero-knowledge cryptography in about ten seconds. SP1 Hypercube achieves this for over 93 percent of mainnet blocks with an average proving time of just ~10.3 seconds
"alright, how is that possible?”
the breakthrough came from rethinking the proof system. SP1 replaced univariate polynomials with multilinear ones, which are more efficient and easier to evaluate. it also introduced Jagged PCS, a flexible commitment scheme and LogUp GKR, an optimized sumcheck protocol. this full redesign makes fast proving possible on high-end consumer GPUs.
“and what do we actually get from this?”
we get trustless bridges that don’t rely on delay buffers. rollups that can finalize as quickly as the base layer. proof systems that are accessible without million dollar infrastructure. most importantly, we get scalable and verifiable infrastructure that remains open and decentralized.
