Huh? Who wants Craig’s grim timeline? Cavill has a Roger Moore quality. Go back to basics with sexy Female Spies, Cool Gadgets and Megalomaniacs trying to destroy the world with viruses and The Apocalypse. It’s not rocket science. Bond! Babes! Fast Cars! Gadgets! Stunts! You know? A good time. What do they need, a road map?
Whatever. What were Roger Moore’s giant blockbusters? And was he not was tied to the Saint? What did Timothy Dalton ever do? Daniel Craig wasn’t exactly a box office draw. The fact of the matter remains Cavill is perfect for the part. Their wanting a young man is stupid. It’s like Young Indiana Jones. It doesn’t work
@SteveHiltonx@DrJeffKoloze Steve, baby, you need to run ads 24/7 of the 85k missing immigrant children and all of the clips of Xavier’s elusive answers to the press. Run them in Spanish first. The man is evil.
@bestofStarTrek Stealing The Enterprise in TSFS. Everyone gets to shine, (except Chekov with that ridiculous collar. And Spock of course.) But it’s Nimoy at the helm with the best and most fluid scene that epitomizes all our favorite characters.
@bestofStarTrek 0/10 JJ Trek doesn’t count. They’re all shitshows.
But even on its own mindless terms it’s just so convoluted and stupid.
Especially when Cumberbatch announces he’s Khan. And they literally call Leonard Nimoy and say, “Dude, what’s this guy’s malfunction??”
1/10 - 1 point for Jerry Goldsmith’s Viking Horns in the Main Title. That is honestly the only thing I like about this movie.
The bad guy needs a face lift??
And Paramount green lit this monstrosity?
Insurrection along with Final Frontier and Generations proved that Paramount views Trekkies as a group of clapping seals who will lap up anything.
@CowboyEmpire@GoToThePictures Reeve embodied, nay defined, the essence of Superman.
You're seriously going to use "Cavill is more buff!" as your criteria??
Yes.
Tobey was a bug-eyed, frog-voiced, physically awkward and unfunny doofus. Always shambling around the films looking confused and bewildered.
That's not Peter Parker. All uninitiated dummies think Parker can be summed up as a "nerd. " It's totally wrong.
If you read any Spider-Man comics from any era, you would know how wrong Maguire was for the part. Peter Parker is effectively a poor Tony Stark. A genius and a cut up waiting to bust loose. (That's not to say Holland got it right either. The Spidey I grew up reading was no one's sidekick and didn't take guff from anyone.)
Garfield was quiet but arrogant as Parker and a wise ass when he puts on the mask. Just (re)read the Ditko era to know how accurate that is.
The best pure Spidey movie moment is in ASM 2 when he first stops The Rhino and his gang from stealing the plutonium. A New York novelty who is loose, confident capable and funny. Plus the shot of him hanging out with all the other NY tourist characters was pure gold.
Unfortunately Garfield was let down by terrible plotting and direction in both of his films.
But his interpretation was spot on.
Hey. You can be born into wealth and affluence and still put ketchup on your steak.
If you read all those comics and prefer the Snyderverse Superman over Donner/Reeve what more is there to be said?
Except one thing:
Superman as a concept is America's Savior, a stranger from a strange land who becomes one of us, raised in the country's heartland to be the perfect embodiment of the American Spirit.
If that spirit for you means he's a confused, detached and somewhat arrogant jerk who has no problem reducing a city to rubble to win a fight, then that says everything about your view of the character and concept . And of course what inspires you. (I'm sure you're great fun in a traffic jam)
I opt for the noble view of the idea.
Donner/Reeve got it exactly right. He leaves the city so as not to endanger the population. Ursa says it best, "He actually cares about these humans."
Three films and Snyder/Cavill failed to convince us of that notion.
Again, more Goyer/Snyder's fault than Cavill's.
Siegel and Schuster - two sons of immigrants who were in awe of the American Dream and the potential it held. Donner and Reeve understood and conveyed those implications.
Goyer and Snyder two successful, cynical Hollywood assholes who lost the meaning.
Go ahead. Defend and thrill to Team Hollywood Asshole.
Cuz you read all those comics.
Uh...what?
Have you ever listened to him speak?
Have you followed his voting record?
Have you been following anything that happened in politics in the last year?
Massie believed in Trump's agenda and voted for it before Trump abandoned it.
What more indication would you need?
If Massie isn't the country's next president, Heaven help us, we're cooked.
@historyrock_ Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough-- Even if Thriller never came out that's his best song. All his greatest songs are just variations of that one.
