Meet the recipients of the 2024 ACM A.M. Turing Award, Andrew G. Barto and Richard S. Sutton! They are recognized for developing the conceptual and algorithmic foundations of reinforcement learning. Please join us in congratulating the two recipients! https://t.co/GrDfgzW1fL
i just spent 8 hours writing rebuttals for a set of reviews that were produced in <1 hour of combined effort of 4 reviewers. if i'm lucky, they may spend another 5 minutes reading it, and MAYBE one of them may raise their score by 1 bit.
HOW IS THIS A GOOD USE OF ANYONE'S TIME???
PLEASE SHARE: the Reinforcement Learning Summer School #RLSS is now accepting applications! I'm quite excited about how the program is coming together, check it out on https://t.co/7JmgzINaOz
Tomorrow, at 10:15 a.m. (CEST), I will present "Model-Free Non-Stationarity Detection and Adaptation in Reinforcement Learning" at @ECAI2020, joint work with Marcello Restelli and Manuel Roveri. More info: https://t.co/uUd7Atrx4y
After the presentation a live Q&A will take place.
The #ECAI2020 book is now online! View the #openaccess EBOOK (with the main conference & PAIS papers) at https://t.co/WmC6guXQiQ. Find out more (including your chance to get a discount on the PRINT edition) at: https://t.co/F0QMZudZ47 / #DigitalECAI2020#FAIA#FrontiersInAI#AI
Finally, after several years of searching, we have found a provable (and implementable) analog of Nesterov's accelerated gradient method for Riemannian manifolds.
Amazing effort by @KwangjunA, appearing in COLT 2020. https://t.co/t1RSnhW7o8
New video: Simulating an epidemic.
What happens when people avoid each other for the most part but still go to a common central location like a store?
What if you can track and isolate cases, but 20% slip through the cracks? 50%?
And much more.

What will go down as the biggest breakdown in the US response to #COVID19 is the lack of test kits. South Korea and the US had their 1st patients on Jan 20 and Jan 21, respectively. Look at the difference in daily testing. By March 4th, SK was ~18,000 per day.
I am deeply uncomfortable with the message that UK is actively pursuing βherd immunityβ as the main COVID-19 strategy. Our groupβs scenario modelling has focused on reducing two main things: peak healthcare demand and deaths... 1/
