Huge delays at @LeShuttle to get back into the UK. Nobody asked for our Covid tests or passenger locator forms. #BrexitReality. Mind you, they were unable to verify that we had settled status, thanks to 'long processing backlogs'...
Today I had my first #COVID19Vaccination at the Business Design Centre in #Islington. I was amazed at the impressively well-run operation there. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers for looking after me so well.

@Authentik_se @lhdezlangs @HLTranslation @ChrisDurbanFR@monese Thank you. I feel strongly about investing in a translator with potential. But I agree on your point above. - it is mad I had to go these lengths to basically make up for failings from the process/vendor side.
@lhdezlangs @Authentik_se @HLTranslation @ChrisDurbanFR@monese I tried different vendors and found quality declining in time even when I found 1 that initially delivered text that did not sound 'translated'. For me it's also the fact I felt out of touch with translators. I'm used to working with them directly, brainstorm together.
@lhdezlangs @Authentik_se @HLTranslation @ChrisDurbanFR@monese In an ideal world, they would. After being disappointed with a few, I've been contracting directly with translators. I found vendors I tried were too focused on saving money on their end to get the translators to do what I asked: I paid more, but translators were not paid more.
@lhdezlangs @Authentik_se @HLTranslation @ChrisDurbanFR@monese We are not trying to reinvent the wheel and are very much aware that the concept is not new, but its application within the framework of existing localisation tools and at scale is.
@lhdezlangs @Authentik_se @HLTranslation @ChrisDurbanFR@monese What we have experienced is that however good a translator is, by replacing the source with a brief they seem to produce something better than they would have done otherwise. Even if they are the best translator ever and would have in any case produced something memorable
@lhdezlangs @Authentik_se @HLTranslation @ChrisDurbanFR@monese I appreciate your point and why you'd wonder if that was the issue. I think it is easy to dismiss something unless you've gone through the pain. I've often chosen to invest in good translators who consistently localise our product and training them further if need be.
@ChrisDurbanFR @HLTranslation @monese@lhdezlangs If you send me your questions I would be happy to answer them. It is only by answering tricky questions that we can strengthen the theoretical framework behind this approach, so yes keep 'em coming.
@HLTranslation @ChrisDurbanFR@monese@lhdezlangs I agree with Chris that the concept of using the source as a brief is not new. It is the execution at scale that is
