🏆 The 2026 edition of the CONIFA European Football Championship, a biennial tournament for teams with no UEFA or FIFA affiliation, kicks off today in Insubria, a cross-border region between Italy & Switzerland.
The participants in Group A are Padania, Raetia and Greenland, while Group B consists of Canton Ticino, Rouet Provence and Northern Cyprus.
🇵🇱🏆 In 2022, Wisła Kraków were relegated to the Polish second division.
Four years later, they’re BACK in the top flight after winning the league by 9 points. 😮💨
And the title celebrations were absolutely INSANE.
For over a year, Tim McGrath left the house with half his face missing and his brain exposed to the open air. Every surgeon he approached turned him down.
He was 38 years old and running out of options when one doctor read his file, looked at the damage, and said: "If I don't do it, who will?"
McGrath of Sterling Heights, Michigan was diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma in February 2014, a rare soft tissue cancer near his left upper jaw and behind his cheekbone.
For 18 months he pursued non-surgical treatments. They bought him time. Then an infection drained in May 2015 caused the tumour to triple in size overnight.
The tumour's growth left him breathing and eating through tubes in hospital. In
October 2015 he underwent a 30-hour operation to remove it, losing his left eye, left ear, half his jaw, and lower scalp.
The cancer was gone. The damage was permanent.
His body then rejected multiple reconstruction attempts, leaving half his face exposed and susceptible to infection.
He lived that way for a year. No surgeon would take the case.
Dr. Kongkrit Chaiyasate, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Beaumont Hospital, agreed to help in April 2016.
His concern was whether more skin grafts would work given how much tissue had already been harvested. He proceeded anyway.
He reconstructed McGrath's face using skin and muscle from his left leg, left forearm, and a flap from his forehead, with skin grafts used throughout.
McGrath called Dr. Chaiyasate a "human angel" and said: "It wasn't until I went to Dr. Chaiyasate that I started to feel real hope again."
Oprah Winfrey: "All these years, I thought I was overeating… because of me and my fault. Now I understand that if you carry the obesity gene… that is what makes you overeat. "
"You don't overeat and become obese. Obesity causes you to overeat."
