.@RepDonBacon says @SpeakerJohnson pressed Republicans to vote against aid to Ukraine.
"He lobbied pretty hard... The Speaker whipped against us, so that's why he drove that number down...He says he's pro-Ukraine, but the actions speak louder than words." https://t.co/Gkuulx5iUV
In every Senate primary so far, establishment candidates have won. In CA the outsider billionaire is poised to finish third in the gov race. No elected Democratic member of Congress has lost a primary to an insurgent candidate. In competitive races, Democratic primary voters are choosing pragmatism over ideology.
I know attacking the Democratic establishment as out-of-touch is the whole schtick but if there is any takeaway from the primary season so far it’s that “base anger” is the dog that didn’t bark.
Trump is exactly what we knew he was. The harshest questions and criticisms of journalism today and history tomorrow are about how a generation of Republican politicians, partisan media, and US voters willingly chose to ignore it for power.
I'm not surprised the oil market could handle 100 days of the Strait being closed without significant disruption.
I am very surprised the oil market would remain so complacent after 100 days and with zero visibility on reopening.
It’s repetitive but still vital to say. There is NOTHING to Trump’s vote fraud assertions. There was nothing to them in 2016. Nothing in 2020. Nothing in 2024. Nothing in 2026. NOTHING AT ALL.
This is very impressive. Tyumen is so far away in northern Siberia and that is the oil capital of Russia.
Then, Ukraine can hit all Russian oil that matters.
Glorification? There was zero glory in my addiction. It was truly the most excruciatingly humiliating and degrading experience you could possibly imagine. I wanted to commit suicide almost daliy, but didn’t have the courage for even that. Instead I’d reach for the pipe or the bottle. The cowards way out. The guilt. The shame. The hurt. The absolute misery of it. Yet here I am. And I am not alone. There are millions upon millions of us. We don’t all agree on politics or people or who we root for on Sunday. But we all have the shared experience of walking through that fire and surviving. I chose to live. That’s not a joke.
I see your profile picture. That’s Johnny Cash. My hero too. Arrested seven times. Smuggled 668 amphetamines across the Mexican border in 1965. Took every drug there was and drank like I did. Cheated on his first wife. Slept with more woman than I ever did. Hit bottom in a cave in Tennessee in 1968 trying to crawl off and die. And then he got up. He got clean. He spent the rest of his life singing for prisoners and addicts and the people the country threw away because he knew he was one of them.
That was the whole point of the Man in Black. He wore it for the poor and the beaten down. He wore it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime. He wore it for the ones who never heard a word of Jesus. He wore it for the addicted and the dying. He wore it as a standing witness that no one is past saving.
You picked his picture. You did not pick his message. Try listening to the words.
Things most Americans agree on:
Groceries cost too much.
Tariffs suck and make no sense.
Congress and Presidents shouldn’t trade stocks.
The debt is a mess.
The border should be secure, but legal immigration is good.
Endless wars are stupid, especially ones that nobody wants and have never been explained.
Americans are exhausted.
AI is like my new best friend that also might be trying to take my job, my ability to think for myself, and my humanity in the process. Yo like I love you, but WTF, but I still love you.
Diversity is actually awesome! The opposite is boring AF.
Canadians are super fucking cool.
Mexicans are chill.
Putin isn’t a good guy looking out for America’s best interest. Rocky IV and Miracle are great movies.
Good neighbors are a blessing.
Freedom of religion and coexistence without having to blow each other up is probably a good idea.
We all question, are we alone in the universe?
We all fuck up along the way.
Epstein didn’t hang himself.
The Trumps and Epstein were best friends for decades. It’s like Bert trying to tell us Ernie was just an acquaintance in the same social scene on Sesame Street back in the day.
The Cowboys suck. Go Birds!
Things we’re told to fight about:
Me.
Laptop.
Vaccines.
Transgenders in sports.
Pronouns.
That’s the joke.
The winner of the Maine Senate race will not be determined by those on this platform, young folks in Portland, or Dem primary voters. How older, white women who live in Kennebec or York Cty, who aren’t engaged right now in this, will determine it.
