Vice President of the Red Band Maxi Taxi Route 2 Association, Parasan Rampersad, said drivers were gathering to head to Port of Spain for a meeting with fellow operators.
Rampersad said the "rest and reflect" action will continue and claimed that out of about 2,000 maxi taxis, only 45 operated yesterday.
He expects fewer drivers to work today.
He said members will decide the way forward and added that concession drivers who transport schoolchildren were also expected to join today's protest action.
