@danothebeach I got a 16" MBP with the M1 Max CPU last fall. Matlab was the only software I regularly used that had not been updated for Apple Silicon. I knew that MathWorks had been working on it, but the pace of their effort increased in the past few months.

Matlab launches quite a bit faster, which is nice. Otherwise, it is working flawlessly so far and I have been using it a lot to create the last homework assignment in my computational methods class.

I also make great use of the Symbolic Math Toolbox, which is included in this beta.

Update on the Matlab beta for Apple Silicon. I also installed the Amazon Corretto 8 Java 8 JRE. Matlab is working nicely in this environment. I ran some ODE code, and it is about twice as fast on that. Some linear system stuff was about 20% slower.

Seems like every day, multiple times a day, Im getting notifications and seeing headlines about people being shot and murdered due to the lack of gun regulations. If only guns were as deadly and dangerous as drag shows, maybe we’d actually be able to make some progress. If only.
