24 years ago I gave birth to my oldest child. Had an epidural. Vowed there & then to become an anaesthetist. Wasn’t even a doctor. So it took quite a while!
Today I collected my #FRCA from my F1 & F2 supervisor & @RCoAPresident Dr Fiona Donald. How marvellous! #RCoADips
EDs sit at the intersection between community-based and acute hospital care. COVID has enormous impacts on ED demand and flow. ED clinicians must be consulted when planning pandemic measures. Thank you @drmedmonds for your advocacy on behalf of @acemonline's SA faculty.
Check out our RespectED anti-bullying campaign video below. We're raising awareness of bullying, harassment and incivility in Emergency Departments and aim to empower all to speak up when they are targeted or witness this appalling behaviour.

When people talk dismissively that someone who died from COVID 'had underlying medical conditions', besides being ethically reprehensible, remember this includes about 40% of the population
Thank you to our wonderful SES volunteers, staff and supporting agencies who assisted during this weather event. Between 12pm Saturday and 5pm Sunday SES volunteers attended over 750 requests for assistance.
Sometimes we humans can’t help bringing the effects of work home.
I find the best approach is honesty.
‘Yes Daddy IS a bit sad right now but that’s okay. Sometimes life IS sad. I’ll be alright because I’m at home with YOU now. How about you tell me about YOUR day?’

Past ACEM president Simon Judkins giving his last address. Two years of hard work. Thanks for your advocacy on improving ED mental healthcare.

@DrSenthi#ACEM2019 throwing everything I thought I knew about research upside down - a statistically significant result does not mean that an intervention works - mourning the p value today at Hobart!
@drhumki@acemonline#ACEM2019 Big shout out to my fabulous colleague Kim for sharing her story today. Let’s all be aware of our language when colleagues and trainees are sick and allow some humanity into our teams. Great festival of dangerous ideas today - thanks all!
#ACEM2019#acemonline#AdvancingWomenEM I think something we can all do to improve gender equity is to change the culture & language when fathers want parental leave. All parents should be supported equally to raise our next generation
How utterly quaint that @fergusonmichael would put his opinions ahead of the expertise of over a dozen medical colleges, and at least one independent Coronial Inquiry...
“Hospitals contribute about 8% of greenhouse gas emissions!” Eye-opening facts at the Public Health and Disaster Medicine session. Should we be trying to address this? What can we do about this? #ACEM19#acemvolunteers
It's great to see less plastic and less waste in general at #ACEM19 - no plastic case around the conference badge, no bag filled with flyers - only thing I have accumulated from this conference is a collapsible keep cup. Thanks @GeoffCouser and organisers! @acemonline
