@L7760Larry @cb_doge Look at the bunkering here!
CCF had top tier Emmet bunkering.
@glmanton did a wonderful job documenting the history: https://t.co/5WpZ2GKn46
Just returned from my first ever trip to 🏴 and it got me thinking…why is the US so enamored with lush and green? Golf is much much more interesting with firm and bouncy turf. Just sayin’
After getting knocked out of the tournament on penalty kicks the last two seasons the @1FarmingtonHS boys soccer team won the @ciacsports Class LL Championship with a 3-1 victory over Xavier. @WTNH#ctbsoc

Devereux Emmet
💎💎💎 HIDDEN GEM ALERT!!! 💎💎💎
I’ve been on an Emmet run lately and he has very quickly ascended my list of must play architects. His courses, when properly maintained, are as fun and quirky as you will find.
CCF is a true throwback club. It has all the qualities you find in a club that defends its roots. The classic, wood floored and paneled lounge. The classic patio overlooking 1 and 18. The quirky short par 4 starter and long par 3 finisher. The wild greens. It’s so good.
The highlight are the greens, which are DIABOLICAL! Super sloped and fast, we chipped and putted off the greens multiple times. When your host says “stay below the hole” here, he means it. I hit some amazing chips that slowly trundled 30 yards away.
The course has 2 distinct sections. The early and late holes are on a higher level, with tons of land movement. The middle section runs along a river and is extremely flat. While the higher level holes are the better holes, the lower level holes have some great strategic elements, including a meandering creek and some wonderful green design elements.
The course is only around 6500 yards from the tips, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. The treacherous greens means double lurks even after being on or near the green. I speak from experience.
An incredible day with a great host. If you can, try to find your way here. You will have a blast.
Renovation projects can put a course on the right path for years to come, but golfers will need to have some patience with the construction and grow-in process. Here's what to expect.
Round Hill Club has quietly become one of the very best in CT thanks to @bschneider126. Restored W.Travis bunker/mound complexes enhance a fine collection of perfectly sited tiny greens. RHC’s eclectic mix of holes which unfold over an engaging routing lighten feet & encourage 🔄
Being underrated isn’t always a bad thing, especially when it comes with a lack of pretension and the ability to carry your own bag when walking. St. George’s G&CC, Devereux Emmet’s masterpiece on Long Island, hits all the right notes as a course…and as a club. My kind of vibe
Turns out playing in The Sandbox is just as much fun now as when I was a kid. Thoroughly impressed by the creative interest captured, even on holes as short as 39 yards! Bravo @coorecrenshaw
Huntington CC on Long Island is stealthy good and strongly supports the statement that Devereux Emmet is the most underrated architect. While many of his quirky courses have been lost, those that remain should be faithfully restored.
