The most famous Haitian-American woman is speaking out about the way Haitian immigrants in Springfield are being treated.
In a two-minute video where she speaks both English and Haitian Creole, actress Garcelle Beauvais encourages people to vote to โstop the chaos.โ
Beauvais immigrated from Haiti to the United States when she was seven-years-old.
@ArletteSaenz hi there! Great reporting. The Vice President is still a member of her sorority. Once a member, always a member, even after college. Thank you!
@JacksonLeeTX18 was a staunch advocate for the marginalized and stood firm for education and equality. Her presence in this world leaves a huge void. Thank you for your dedication to humanity Soror ๐ฉท๐ #ivybeyondthewall
@GovChrisSununu hey can you learn how to pronounce VP Kamala Harrisโ name? Itโs not KUH-MAH-luh. Itโs pronounced โKAMA-lahโ. Itโs basic respect to pronounce and spell a personโs name correctly. @ErinBurnett tried to correct you subtly. Thanks much!
Thank U @SmithsonianFolk@smithsonian for inviting @DCDPR Deanwood Broadcast program to participate & moderate in the Kickoff of the #2024Folklife yesterday & Iโm happy to announce a intern partnership for Deanwood college students for the 2025 Festival #dprprograms#Morethanrec
@JacobFenston Youโre amazing Jacob. Iโll be following your trek. I know you didnโt hit your first goal of 30, but meeting new people outdoors has to be a warm distraction ๐ด๐ฝ ๐ธ
I met up with @ward8woods today in Suitland Parkway while they were clearing trash and invasives. Itโs one of many parks east the Anacostia where they want to see a dirt trail built through the woods. There are hundreds of acres of forest with no public access!
CENTENE DONATES $25,000,000 FERGUSON CENTER TO THE URBAN LEAGUE
@Centene announced that it was donating its Ferguson Center to the Urban League @ULSTL at our 106th Annual Dinner. The 60,000 Square Foot, almost 8.5 Acre site will be used for:
Head Start Early Childhood Education
Save Our Sons and Save Our Sisters Workforce Programs
Job Training
Conference Center
Housing Assistance
Regional Food Distribution Center
Re-Entry Programs
And Other Partners
The Urban League is truly grateful to Centene for our decades long partnership on every level from Board Leadership, Employee Engagement, Volunteerism and Charitable Giving. A special thanks go to Sarah London, Ken Fasola, Keith Williamson, Chris Koster, Joyce Larkin, Shannon Susko, Doug Lowell and many others from the company who made this project a reality.
The vision for this center was created by Centeneโs former Chairman and CEO Michael Neidorff. After the death of Michael Brown and unrest in Ferguson, Mr. Neidorff immediately decided to build the center to bring 250 jobs for people in the community and invest in the city. The center also included a very large number of African American companies in its construction.
This donation represents the largest contribution in the 106 year history of the Urban League. The Grand Opening of the Center will take place in June. #ULSTL #Centene #UrbanLeague #Ferguson #SaveOurSons #SaveOurSisters #HeadStart #HousingAssistance #MichaelNeidorff
