As a precursor to our #TSCI24 Camino in ONE WEEK! Some of our participants undertook a relatively short walk along the Way of St Augustine.

This included the documentary maker, Glen Travis and his wife Nelli, Andrew Christensen, Steve Price and Wendy Singer.  They met up at the Church of St Augustine in Ramsgate, the commencement point on a fine day that lived up to its name of Sunday.

The intention was to walk so as to arrive in Canterbury on St Augustine’s feast day on 27 May. With advance planning, arrangements were in place for us to stay overnight in St Martin’s and St Paul's Church in Canterbury, allowing us to attend the celebratory Mass in the Cathedral the following day.

In true Camino fashion, their walk, which was about 30km, was peppered with wonderful kindnesses. This included the kindness of Sarah opening up a closed church for us after hours. An impromptu talk given by John at St Martin’s and St Paul’s and the warm welcome and hospitality extended to us by Jackie.

The Kent scenery was lush and green and they all felt enriched by this experience. Despite many meeting for the first time, they were united by their common goal to take on the challenges ahead with tolerance and love.
