Somewhere in your 20s or 30s you'll get the opportunity to rebuild your life after a negative loop, heal from what broke you, live in your own space, reconnect with your discipline, and learn to love yourself again. It's very important that you see that journey through.
On that note, life is long
If you read the biography of any notable public figure, they were focused on different things at different points in their life
You might know someone as an author, only to find out they also also served in the Royal Air Force (literally the life of Roald Dahl)
Purpose is not singular. You are multifaceted. You have a lifetime to explore the different sides of yourself (some that you didn’t even know existed). Something you spend years doing might simply prepare you for the thing you eventually become known for.
Different seasons will call forward different capacities.
If you want a calm life, protect the ordinary things. Sleep. Meals. Walks. Rest. Solitude. Mornings without your phone. Time in nature. Quiet evenings. A clean space. Good books. Unhurried conversations. Saying no. What you consume. Who you let close. It all adds up.
I think the highest form of spirituality is simply learning how to live your life. Not escaping into altered states, collecting initiations, memorizing scriptures, or trying to become something other than what you already are. All of those things do have their place along the way, but eventually they have to lead you back here. Back to making breakfast, taking care of your body, doing your work, loving the people around you, and paying attention to what is directly in front of you. The point of the path isn’t to take you out of life, it’s to teach you how to be completely inside it.
The point of practice isn’t to spend your entire life practicing. It’s to become so completely present that the division between practice and life disappears. You stop looking for the sacred somewhere else because you realize there is nowhere else for it to be. Washing dishes is it. Training is it. Sitting quietly with someone you love is it. Growing old is it. Even boredom, grief, and uncertainty are part of it. Eventually you put down all the methods and explanations and simply participate in your own existence. The highest teaching is living ordinary life completely.
Ask God to restore your appetite for life. Your ideas. Your energy. Your curiosity. Your confidence. Your hope for the future. Sometimes you don’t need a completely new life. You need to reconnect with the parts of yourself you stopped nurturing.
There will be 3 types of people in the future:
The Purists - reject AI and become new-age hippies
The Automatons - outsource every decision and become machines
The New Renaissance Man - maintains humanity and leverages tech to do what used to be impossible
