Something I have thought about as an opportunity in the $500k-$5M EBITDA space - a lot of levers should be pulled ~5 years prior to sale

I assume there was a light handshake agreement (or more?) for you to buy the business in a couple of years if things went well as an employee?

@BradGuldemond @SMB_Attorney A lot of truth to this, especially with how hard it can be to find quality operators - quality operator can raise money and buy a “better” business (on paper) by partnering with small PE or raising money themselves.

Could be an opportunity for someone on the younger side though

My sample is likely smaller than you but I’ve enjoyed Denver (burb), Austin, Portland (burb) compared to my home Life Time in Chicago.
But I’m biased since the Chicago one is tiny (imo) - but location is convenient for me so I make do
